Hi Guys.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. Have been so busy at work and moving house just been enjoying the car really.

Very impressed with the coilovers and all the new bushings together, No more scuttling and shaking under braking, car is properly on the road. The only thing letting it down now is the play in the steering box, which we have tried to get dialed out but we can't eliminate it, and an LSD :)

Here is how it sits this morning. Still so much to do.

Matt, check the flex joint where the top half of the steering column connects to the bottom half. It should be just on the other side of the firewall, on the engine side.
The rubber flex joint in there is known to perish (it happened on my 333i) and causes serious play on the steering.

Part number:

Description:
UNIVERSAL JOINT

Part number 2 in the attached pic.

Hey Matt, your fuel gauge reads to 100 liters, that from an E23 or have you got a massive tank? :D

Have you gotten the new wheels back yet?

Nope! 2 Weeks time! taking forever, one rim has these weird lock nuts from way back when, so took forever to get them off without damaging the original bolts.

Haha yeah I know. So clearly the m5 came with a 100l tank, I have a 70l tank so its clearly out. Actually want to know if the reading would still be correct if i changed out the 100l face and put the 70l face in ?

if only it were that simple ;), back in the day i had a mazda rustler shape bantam bakkie which came out with a 45liter tank, i bought the bakkie with the new bantam shape 55l tank on, so there was a mismatch with fuel sender and gauge...

im afraid the only way you are gonna get that gauge right is if you swap a m5 tank and associated fuel sender in. OR... you can swap out the fuel gauge inside the cluster from your old cluster. THAT,should work,,,
