I'm not hating on the heritage, but why hate on others who wish to fit other motors in a car with the view that it goes against BMW heritage?

We as consumers of BMW products make BMW shareholders money so I think we as consumers are entitlted to consume the product as we see fit, irrespective of heritage. Indeed I put forward to you that Toyota also has a proud racing heritage as well as any other brand for that matter.

Agree that consumers are entitled to consume products as they see fit, afterall it is thier own money, im merely sharing my opinion about having a Toyota engine in a BMW and as in the pics the nerve on still having an M3 badge on the car, as a Beemer fanatic to me that is unacceptable, than again that is just my opinion!!!!!

Name 1 motorsport Achievement /Award that Toyota has earned that is meaningful and in the league of its German/Italian/America/Swiss/British counterparts? Im not a fan of toyota so maybe thats why i have no knowledge of this or maybe its coz they have not topped any significant motorsport Achievements.

Dont get me wrong Toyota make reliable, fuel economical cars and they have dominated in that sector and have the sales figures to prove it!!!

i have a modified Toyota- and i can count on 1 hand over the last 8 years how many times i've showed off the engine.

unless you are going to use it at a show car- if your car is already over 15 years old, i personally dont think its worth going after a engine that is at times triple the cost.

it is money vs. reliability

eg. the white E30 BMW that joined the JHB boys on a few breakfast runs had a V6 Lexus motor in, and no-one knew until he opened the bonnet, it even sounded like a BM.

it would not of been worth his time to buy a BM motor that would probably cost more than what the car was bought for?

ps. im in-front of him :)

You cant beat Toyota Power:inlove:

Check it out, 328i turbo vs Supra Turbo

Conclusion : U cant compare the 2 brands.....period!!! The germans are untouchable!!!!!:ty:

No doubt a BMW Turbo is very fast. Budler Motorsport 5 series did a 7 sec 1/4mile run.

However, Supra's are deadly with minor mods from factory. The highly modded ones run in the 9's in street trim! Show me a '328i' turbo that can do that?

Both brands have proud racing heritage!

There are MANY 9second Beemers out there, ranging from 320i - M3s in street trim, check out youtube!!

Besides the Beemers, there are some wicked old school heavy machinery cars doing the 9s...awesome.

I saw that green E36 with the Supra Motor at the Dastek Dyno Day last year. Made something like over 400kw at the wheels. If i'm not mistaken the guys with the Budler e30's brought the car along.

The cool thing is that these motors sound like a straight six beemer until you hear the dump valve.

Yepp the Supra never came to SA as far as i know. However there has been so much aftermarket development done on this motors that it's so easy to work with. The guys in the States can get 1000hp easy out of these cars.

The 4 AGE motor is more common in SA. Louis Lima had this motor in his blue 1400 bakkie which ran 7 secs.

a supra motor can be found in the cressida's, just without the turbo items.

I think the 7MGE Supra was also on the 2.8 Cressida....but then how many people modded their Cressida?

for sure the 4 AGE is way more common in SA because the engine was used here more, but 2jz has had the mod crap modded out of it the world over... not so with the bmw engines... for me fitting another engine to my car will be hard to swallow, but i can see why people do it...

anyone can find any car on you tube that will beat a car they want it to.
this video is pointless especially since the supra was running in the 12 sec bracket...
read this and tell me toyota has no racing heritage.. http://www.lmsintl.com/Toyota-racing-development-LMS-virtuallab

just by the way Ferrari would not give Schumacher a contract to race for them again so he moved to Mercedes, i think its pretty clear that he cares about racing and not heritage.

the guys that are putting these engines into beemers clearly love BMWs and thats why they have put the engines into them. they dont put a big sticker on the bonnet that says this car is powered by toyota do they?
so then why do they do it? because not everyone has the all the money that they would like to have. but they would still like the same amount of fun.

i tell you what, i'd feel like a bit of a tit if i spent 200k on car to get the power someone else only spent 50k getting...

I do understand why u guys feel bad about desicrating the BMW name with another engine though!

At the Mtuba drags there was a sexy red Toyota MR2 that was running in the 11's, but sounded sick and ugly! Was happy that it was a Toyota running top dawg at the event, but when we checked the engine................it was VW:argh::argh: (no wonder it sounded sick:roflol:)

Why would someone do something so horrible to such a lovely car:cry:

So no matter how potent and fast a BMW is with a Supra motor, u wont get the same feeling or passion as a BMW with a BMW motor?

However, I still say the Supra motor > BMW motors for turbocharging and would do it myself if I could:inlove:

I asked to be informed by significant achievments, that is a pointless website....im done with this Toyota VS BMW coz simply you cant compare the 2 brands, the German legend is on a league of its own, together with Merc and Audi, as far as im concerned the only fast Toyota out there is one where the accelerator pedal has jammed!

I do however agree that modding a Beemer is pricy business, original BMW parts is a brand on its own.

As for the Schumacher bit, the only reason why he is racing for Merc is becoz the other teams besides Ferrari objected to him joining ferrari once again as well as the neck injury that he suffered.

Here is bits from Wiki :

During the 2007 season Schumacher acted as Ferrari's advisor and Jean Todt's 'super assistant'....

In 2007, former Ferrari top manager Ross Brawn said that Schumacher was very likely and also happy to continue testing in 2008. Michael Schumacher later explained his role further saying that he would "deal with the development of the car inside Gestione Sportiva" and as part of that "I'd like to drive, but not too often....

The team had suffered a disastrous downturn in the early 1990s, partially as their famous V12 engine was no longer competitive against the smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient V10s of their competitors. Various drivers, notably Alain Prost, had given the vehicles labels such as "truck", "pig", and "accident waiting to happen".[48] The poor performance of the Ferrari pit crews was considered a running joke.[23] At the end of 1995, though the team had improved into a solid competitor, it was still considered inferior to front-running teams such as Benetton and Williams.[49] Schumacher declared the Ferrari 412T good enough to win the Championship....

Do the research and tell me he didnt believe in Ferrari's Heritage to take them to the top!!!

Cheers Gents Later...

your dismissive response makes it difficult for me to take what you say seriously.

this is not a BMW vs Toyota argument, and the fact that you think it is makes it even more difficult for me to take what you say seriously.
