How do I replace a sump gaskette on my 318 E46 face lift, 2004 model?

You need to lift the car on trestles.

Drop the suspension a bit
Jack the engine up a bit
Drain the oil

Loosen all bolts and drop sump
New gasket do not USE GASKET SEALER and torque all bolts to 10Nm.
Roughly 6 hours of work and if you throw a beer in it roughly 8 hours.
