Squeaky Brakes

Question : I have this annoying squeak from the brakes on my car, took it to the "dealership" twice now, best solution was to clean them. Brilliant, guess a bit of compressed air solves any problem. :argh::argh::argh::argh:

Not sure what the procedure is with the motor plan dudes, all four disks and pads where replaced like 2000km ago, so its pretty new. How do I get rid of this annoying squeaking as the "dealership" surely seems to think a miracle will happen with there compressed air (wonder if they sell that stuff as a magic treatment for hair-loss....hmmmm)

First thing would be to bed the brake properly. Plenty of tutorials online. Secondly, applying some copper grease to the back of the pad and on the edges is what a lot of place recommend. Not sure whether motorplan look into that last option.

Thanks, will certainly give it a try!

Copper grease is very good at eliminating brake squeals - as said about, apply a small film of copper grease over the back sides of the pads that make contact with the calliper and pistons. Also good to apply a small amount on the hub surface and the wheel bolts - just for general good care and prevention of excessive rust, also makes for easier removal of the wheels at a later time for that matter...

Thanks for the input guys, will give it a try.

Take it back to the dealer and insist they fix the problem.

Just tired it, monkey's still refuse. Starting to wonder if there is a dealership out there that can just fix the problem instead of following processes that they know will never fix the problem. Motorplan processes :argh::argh::argh::argh::argh:

I am struggling with the dealership regarding rear breaks squeaking on 335i.

First time they cleaned the breaks, second time they replaced them and its still there, especially on hot days.

Just gonna keep going back till they resolve this..

Well good luck with it, I guess I am getting a bit tired of the level of service each of these "dealerships" offer us. We pay huge amounts for our vehicles and we get second rate service.

All breaks have a run in/bed in procedure, I'm guessing the dealership is just slap on new pads and sending you on your way without giving you any instructions. Unless they "prep" the pads beforehand :dunno:

Bedding them in is a great way to get them right (if done properly) but I would have though that the dealers would apply some copper grease (or the equivalent) to all new pads.

My e36 squeeks like an old school bus with the pads I have in there. Only thing that sorts it, is if I put alot of heat through them.
