Springs & warranty/MP

Hi Guys,

I wanted to know if i had to put on a set of H&R springs wiyh that void my entire MP/Warranty or would it just be void for anything suspension related?

I am dying to put on a set, i dont mind voiding just the warranty on suspension:rollsmile:

From what i read they say they cannot void the entire warranty they can void warranty only related to suspension.

The only ones to 100% confirm anything is Motorplan (PTY) Ltd
Why not send them an email or a letter with your enquiry

lol told you that you should discuss this with the dealer :rollsmile: they can as far as i know exclude suspension from the MP and keep the rest intact... but if they find them on your car they will probably cancel outright i would not take the chance and rather talk to them...

just call a dealership and speak to motorplan dept...or call BMW SA...numbers are on bmw.co.za...but I would gues it wld void plan cos it tampering with mechanicals in a way (as it is they have huge issues with tyres you use already)...also phone ur insurance...some insurances don't like non-approved parts..and the last thing you want is in an accident they refuse to fix cos of springs being non-bmw..

She said she was going to confirm but she hasnt told me much as yet, I will call BMW tomorrow and see what they say....

I see so many modded cars on the road, newer cars but how are they getting their vehicles serviced?

Does anyone have mods on their car where BMW hasnt cancelled MP after regular services with them?

Anyone know where dealerships in JHB are a bit more tolerant with mods on your cars?

Ok so i spoke to BMW SA and two dealerships.

2 people from BMW SA said its dealer specific and two said it would void the entire motor-plan then i called two dealers one said only suspension related and one said the entire motor-plan....

The person at the dealership will not give me anything in writing he refers me back to BMW SA.

So now i am stuck sadly :thumbdo:

tell bmw SA you want a document saying that they will exclude suspension only on your car...

If you not happy with that i would suggest you stay stock or buy a car off MP

you could also remove the springs before every service but this will cost you money every time and you run a risk if your car goes in for unscheduled work

Thanks for the advice gents, i am going JSN motors route with Ac Schnitzer springs, they are 3500 + 2000 for fitment and wont void warranty.

Trying to neg a price, does anyone know off a BMW approved fitment centre maybe can get them fitted a little cheaper....

I am definitely not going to wait for another year or two before my MP expires....

Okay lets make this really easy.

I am going to call BMW and MINI and get a copy of the Motorplan Contract that everyone on this forum signed and post it up.

That is the only document or opinion or whatever that matters here. :idea:

Ok so i got this response from them....

"Lowering the suspension would affect everything related to the suspension and any other consequential repairs relating to the modification.
Thus no Warranty or Motor Plan claims would be entertained relating to the suspension modification.
We would not recommend that this be done at all."

So this is stating that only suspension would be affected and if anything else get damaged because of the suspension that would not be catered for with warranty/MP, Correct?

Murali, your entire Motorplan will be suspended.

I have just confirmed this with a contact at Head-Office and the service department at Auto Atlantic.

They are emailing the terms and conditions as we speak.

My point is every time i call somewhere i get a different answer :thumbdo:

They seem like they are not sure themselves...

Moranor, i don't mind replacing those if and when they do get damaged.

Is there anything related to the engine that springs could damage?

By changing the springs are there any other parts that would be affected?
