why such conflicting info... this whole MP story is balls i tell you...

murali if you still want to go the H&R route you MUST get it in writing that only suspension stuff is off MP so you can avoid issues later...

Thanks Mike, did you see my reply for the service dept in JHB?

My point is every time i call somewhere i get a different answer :thumbdo:

They seem like they are not sure themselves...

Moranor, i don't mind replacing those if and when they do get damaged.

Is there anything related to the engine that springs could damage?

By changing the springs are there any other parts that would be affected?

i would say claims on:

shocks
control arms/bushes
wheels

would be rejected because the springs 'may' lead to more wear and tear on them

As I am aware, any changes made to the vehicles except for those not covered by plan like cosmetic etc will void the entire Motorplan.

I have a copy with me stating so but I would prefer to get the latest version before I post it on the forum.

This is my experience with motorplan:

The last 3 bmw's I've owned, have all had lowering kits (shocks and springs).
In all 3 cases, ONLY the suspension was not covered by mplan.

My mplan records were updated to state this
They also state on the plan that the suspension cover will be reactivated when I install the oem or approved parts, on condition that a quality check is completed by a bmw dealer.

Thanks, Which dealerships were you using bud?

I see you are in CT, i spoke to the service agent today she said she would speak to the Mini Service specialist @ BMW SA and let me know.

I liaise directly with bmw SA, as the dealership is just the middle man, and often don't know the mplan rules themselves.

These rules might not apply to Mini though?

Ok, so i think i have finally managed to get someone who can actually put something in writing for me after two days and escalating this to management, i was told that if anything is proved to be damaged or worn due to lowering off suspension that would not be covered but if it is wear and tear they would still continue to replace the parts as agreed. :joy:

I will post the letter once received

It says,

"Please be advised that the motorplan on your MINI R56 Cooper S Hatch will not be suspended if the suspension work is done at an approved BMW/MINI dealership."

The only dealer that can do mods would be JSN motors, that would be double the price off anything you purchase aftermarket and fitment must be at BMW/MINI which is R600p/h

So get the springs from moranor and get bmw to fit it.

starting to look like you may as well get the Schnitzer springs for the extra 1k and keep the full MP... damn this spring job is turning into a huge cost :nonono:

instead of costing you:

H&R springs R 2565
fitment and alignment R 750
Total R 3315

its going to cost you:

Schnitzer springs R 3500
fitment and alignment at JSN R 2000
Total R 5500 :nonono:

OR

H&R springs R 2565
fitment and alignment at JSN R 2000
Total R 4565 (but loose MP on suspension) :yuck:

paying almost double for the same mod because your car is on MP :thumbdo:
