Quintin is that where yours max out, in other words yours is also not showing what the engine is rated at?

Had the same issue when I had my m240i. Took it in to the dealer and they discovered that the car was in fact, not performing to its full potential. They discovered an issue in the cooling system. So best to take it in while it’s still under plan. When fixed, the car always displayed full power and torque figures.

Is it not a theoretical display, according to gear, revs and throttle position. Not actually measured?

Mine is not accurate or rather has not updated after the remap to the current power it is outputting. Does it need to be coded or updated?

Re-scale and re-calibrate

Hi all,

So just an update - I chatted to one of the workshop supervisors about the sport displays. He asked that the car gets booked in. It went in on Wednesday - and they checked for fault codes and contacted technical...and basically the feedback is that the gauges should not be used for diagnostics - AKA they are not accurate and there for fun I guess lol.

Will soon know. I am not the only one here who's sport displays don't match their cars rated power and the guy at the dealership who I've dealt with a few times now told me that he's seen some cars displays are on the mark and others are not. If after a dyno my car makes what its rated at we know the displays are BS. If the car makes what the displays show (under power on kW) we know BMW is talking BS.

This would be interesting. Personally I think the displays is just a bullsh... thing. So it eould br nicr to see the outcome. Keep us posted

If it reads correct on cars, I don’t see how it can BS. Something is not right, that’s for sure.

Anyway if it’s BS, did you ask them why it’s there ?

I suspect its either calibrated or its not. Mine might just be out of calibration. We'll know once I've done the dyno. I wanted to make sure I've raised the issue with BMW before the car went of plan. If the dyno shows a problem I'll take it back and they'll need to resolve it. If the output it correct I know it's a prob with the display and I have a plan for that anyway... I'm not gonna get myself in to a panic over it cause its on the system that I've brought to their attention.

Just to add, I'll ask Dyno Sport for proof that their dyno has a valid calibration certificate. So if there is a descripancy I can provide that, it will be key.

I am hoping I can be at the dyno day. Then we can compare your 320d to mine
Last dyno day- comparing the 4 stock m140i to one another there was only 5kw difference between them (at least the ones I saw)
