Gentlemen!

Without further ado - The ride thread I promised in my introduction thread.

Mini Backstory:

I had been looking for a replacement for my Revo Stage 2 2005 Audi A4 B7 2.0 TFSI 6MT for some time. With the car approaching 15 years old and with 200k km on the clock; I needed something newer, a bit more modern and quicker. I initially started to look close to home, in the VAG realm. After all, the Audi had treated me really well - giving me stellar service through thick and thin.

I am actually really impressed with the car overall and will be sad to see it go in the next few months. So many adventures and travels in the old girl...

Finding something suitable in the VAG realm proved difficult. Prices are high and while I think the cars are great, I just cannot justify spending such a large portion of my income on a car (irrespective of brand). I wanted something sporty and unique but without needing to sell my soul.
That is why when this BMW came into the picture I was positively sold! The value proposition was just too good to pass up – so much car for the money. Buying it from an enthusiast friend also made me feel more at ease about buying a used BMW (Justified or not).

The Car (which I hope will treat me as well as the Audi did)

Good question...

This is the hybrid (Stage 1) kit, so I reckon about 300 kW once all the supporting mods have been sorted out.

This will be a learning experience for me for sure, so don't quote me on that :fencelook:

Sounds about right Meth injection and LPFP upgrade make a big difference.

Lovely car bud, welcome to the forum.. The 1 series coupe really looks the part, wishing you many happy miles of smiles!

Would love to see some pics of 'the old girl', I have a huge appreciation for Audi's, especially the B5, B6 and B7's.. My first car was a B6 TDI, loved the car to bits and ended up selling it to a mate (with well over 300k), so I get to see it from time to time.

Absolutely LOVE that spec! Amazing spec car that. Definitely a keeper!

Keen to see what this car does when properly dialled in!

Thanks man! Much appreciated.

Alright, I'll post a few pics of the A4 this evening:thumbs:

Good to see some previous Audi Owners here. At least keeping it German:smilebounce:

**Edit: How does one properly quote a reply on this forum? Doesn't seem to be working...

@Spanky, there is only one Teutonic Three (BMW, Audi and Mercedes).. Ranked in order of my preference, haha.

Looking forward to the pics, my favourite B7 model aside from the RS4 is the DTM edition :blowheart: Considered buying one, but then the 330i came first and ruined it for the other brands.. :fencelook:

With regards to quoting posts, see the image below.. You just need to press that 'light bulb' and then 'quote post' under the reply box, before you type a response.

Thanks for the tip! I feel like a proper chop now - just hitting the reply on the post I wanted to quote :roflol:

Good taste! I'd still love a (preferably Supercharged) B7 RS4 in my garage one day...

Thanks, brother! The spec created tension in certain areas of my trousers when I first read it.

Jokes aside, the car feels like a million bucks with all these options. Fortunately it didn't cost near that :cartel:

Congrats on the purchase!

I wish I could of kept mine. Such epic cars these.

Thanks, boet! Perhaps the RoK fever will subside and you'll rejoin the world of the impractical? :fencelook:

Little update...

Recently had a few niggles with the car that needed to be sorted (Some still do).

Took the car to Garage 808, which I think was the correct choice!

Had the following done:
-Full lube service (Not needed yet but rather have too much lubrication than too little ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))
-Radiator and coolant line replaced due to small leak (Main reason for going in :( )
-All filters done
-General health check-up
-After fitting a new battery 2 weeks prior, car was also properly coded by Colin @ Garage 808 (Battery places are useless :/ )
-Loose exhaust hanger secured (No more knocks over bumps!!)

Next things I'd like to repair to have the car perfect:
-Have the windows re-calibrated (Loud open and close with lots of wind noise)
-Replace left front shock (Colin @ Garage 808 noted a small amount of hydraulic ooze)
-Pull the carbon winglet off and re-lacquer it (One or two areas needing a tidying)
-Try improve the BT connection (Not sure how feasible this is but the range of the signal is abysmal - Lifting the phone to change a song causes skip :/ )

Next in line for mods:
-Fix my K+DCan cable - contacts not healthy anymore
-Flash MHD Stage 1 for now
-Procure and install a nice DP

Overall, I'm really loving the car. Especially now after having the coolant leak fixed. That peace of mind is huge.

Perhaps the only thing I'm not loving is the fuel consumption. Last tank saw 300km and I've been driving it reeeeeally chilled to see what it can do if strong will is applied. Yes it's in traffic but sheeesh!

If you've got the Vargas Hybrid installed already you may need a custom file and not a OTS one I think, also upgrade your TMAP sensor to stop getting annoying drivetrain codes. I'm sure the MHD OTS file will work but the fuelling tables wont be as smooth .

You make a good point - I have considered this myself.

It has also made me wonder if the fuel consumption is slightly higher due to this imbalance. Once I get my cable sorted I can start logging a bit and perhaps delve deeper.

I've read the codes a few times and no issues other than temporary ones due to the failed battery. Everything fine since new battery installed.

I have the same spec 135i DCT. Fuel consumption about 12 L/ 100 KM.
Thanks for chiming in...

What kind of split would that be for highway and traffic?
