Sort of new to BMW and should have gone for VW!

My wife drove a 2010 320i. The odo hovered around 14l per 100km, and this over short distances. I now bought her the 316i auto. The odo now hovers around 10l per 100km. I drive the car and I get around 8l/100km(town) and 6l/100km on the highway. I put the high usage down to her driving style paired with driving a cold car. By the way, the 316i performs much better than the E90 320i. A friend of mine drives the new 320i and he says that even when he hammers the car it never goes above 12l/100km.

Hi guys,
Posted the fuel consumption on BMWSA facebook page....Phoned me the next day. The service manager from my dealership contacted me. I must take my car to them on Monday. The manager and I will be driving the car. He will do a couple of test(probably to see if I drive like an ass....) He will advise BMWSA technical team and they will take from there. BMWSA opened a case file and they contacted me to follow up.

Maybe I can get the Harmon & Kardon sound system at a discounted price.:joy:
Hope they sort it out and don't give me a stupid answer.

Thanks for all the suggestions and "support". I will keep you posted!!:praise:

Just got 15.6l/100km on the last tank on a F21 125i:shocked: Only 4000km on the clock though.

I'm not particularly concerned about consumption, lots of short trips, a bit of thrashing and lent the car to a friend on friday night and told him to have fun with it...

but it does seems a little on the heavy as it's not like I'm driving on a track all day.

That puts it at about 4l higher per 100km than my golf GTI. and the engine does have stop/start which should help (although the GTI indicated the engine used about 1l/ hour of idling with the aircon on, also a turbo 2l 4, so not a huge safer for such a complicated feature).

Either way I'm just in denial for now cause I can see this turning into a mission. Even a cruise on the highway on a reset the trip screen resulted it a higher than "official" figure, although not bad.

I'm hoping this problem will just go away cause it's a new car yet my moms 528i, same engine, bigger body, same mileage also similar short trips but a better driving style is on 11.8l which is a nice drop down from the 13l odd she got on her E60 530i.

As for me, my car is many things but not efficiently dynamic right now. I hope this doesn't turn into something that requires trips and fighting with dealers about.

Wow. My e46 M3 isn't even that bad. I'm sitting on 12.7l per 100km. Something definitely not right there man. 4 pot turbo car should not be using 14l per 100km. Not unless you are raping the car day in and out...

I only see that number when I drive like a complete hooligan for a full day.

How the hell???

I flog the M3 a lot, admittedly - and its consumption is generally pegged around 18L / 100km...

Billybob, we all know you drive fast all the time. LOL.

I drive like an old man.

But yes, when I do drive her hard, the highest I have ever seen my consumption was 15L per 100km.
