some newbie help plz

Sup gents,

i'm sure you more experienced bimmer lovers can push me in the right direction here.


i've been trying to search but could not find any lucrative information.
i want to know whether a downpipe and decat is doing one in the same thing?
as in the sense that if i do downpipe its the same as doing a decat? (this was the case with my renault)

or is the decat lower down and can de done without doing a downpipe?
also - can a decat and/or downpipe be done without doing a remap?


Lucy is running a bit on the juicey side, so want to clean the MAF this weekend, and also have a look at cutting out the cat (if this can be done without any other consequences) - seeing that the km are on the higher side of the rev line. will also look at a carbon clean - still searching in jhb for someone.

also - any recommendation as to what other simple mods i can do? new to diesel so still learning. blueCry

If I am correct, the decat and downpipe will be done separately.. The decat will take care of the lower cats and the downpipe will sort out the cats near the manifold. I would think you need a remap because of the sensors on the cats, but someone with an e90 will chime in soon.

With regards to the carbon clean, carbon doctor on the forum is the preferred way to go, having done many members cars.
