So I locked my keys in the boot this afternoon

As per the topic, I locked my keys in the boot, while loading toys , first time it's ever happened to me and the worst experience ever.
Partially because it's my fault and I wasn't paying attention, thought I was emptying my pockets of little cars , only to realise I had one car left and no key.

Took insurance an hour to get a locksmith out , took him 4 minuts to unlock the boot and retrieve the key. The rain didn't help either.

I kind of know now how he did it but don't think its safe to reveal his procedure. It was actually pretty simple. The alarm did go off though once opened.

From now on , I will open all doors before opening the boot.

That sucks man, glad you came right in the end.

A couple of years ago I had an E34 boot repainted so I stripped it completely, needless to say the boot lock mechanism was not exactly impressive.

Unless you have the rear fold down seats there is no way to get in the car from the boot so not the biggest problem. Unless you have a touring or hatch then the cabin is basically inside the boot

How much did you pay the locksmith? Wife locked the key in boot few weeks ago on a Saturday. Cost was 650.

That's why there's a setting that opens the doors when u unlock the boot

hi Guys! sorry for this late reply! Been a busy week ,

Thanks for all the support! LoL Yeah it was the most foolish thing i feel I have ever done , Never expected it to happen to me . Guess with the rain , rush etc and my lack of paying attention it was bound to happen .

@dino_rox : There is a setting that does this??? Where is it!! Lol how do I activate it?

@Jlw777 : Yup insurance covered the cost .

I was wondering at the time , If you manage to open the doors, could I use the button in the car to open the boot , the one by the drivers side?

Used remote to open boot. Then locked key to my F30 in boot. Noticed that only the driver's door opened when I opened the boot with remote in the beginning. What a relief!!!
