Based on what Leonard has stated above I would say just carry out the repair yourself. As long as you use original BMW parts and no one reports it to BMW or insurance they wouldn't even know that anything happened. And you would properly do a better job of it anyway.

When ordering that part from bmw one would have to quote the VIN :fencelook:

Rubbish

Ok you try that with any F10, F20, F30, F01 and let me know if they don't ask for vin

They only ask for the VIN to supply you with the right part. If you quote the part number, they will supply the part without asking any questions.

As of late the parts guy at the dealer I get my spares from, always requests my vin number. Maybe there be some changes with the later model cars?

I ordered a RF Fender on an F01 the other day which was till very much in plan, but customer did not want it on motorplan history. Got parts no problem.

I also ordered a new bumper for a land rover evouge thingy 3 weeks back, same system, no problems...

OK....I am a bit disapointed

I spent most of day in banking que's to deposit cash takings, then the remainder of the day behind the PC paying all suppliers, and updating our "point-of-sale" system and sending out statements etc, that I had no time to follow up on this one.

Firstly...I misidentified the type on Saturday, as I only briefly saw it...it was actually an E90 320i....and not an F30

The lady wanted it fixed ASAP...no quotes/no insurance/NADA/ask no questions type of repair.

So we sourced the control arm ourselves (not sure from where)

R1500 later all fixed and alignment done.

All this happened in my absence from the shop due banking stuff, when I arrived back, she had already left....so no pics etc.

R1500 for control arm, labour, and aligment,
no wonder the lady left before you arrived, that price is reasonable man.

I will be visiting you soon. I have a knocking sound when I climb a pavement. its suspension related, not sure if control arm or stabilizer or what ever as I have no clue what I am talking, but its something on the left front wheel making a noise, and would love to sort it before it breaks or something.
