If your heart yearns for that engine & exhaust note, and fuel consumption isn't a concern, get the x35i or x40i. That noise, feeling and response is 2nd to none.

I've got a 76mm downpipe and I've deleted the back box. The sound wasn't loud but it was very satisfying. I say straight pipe your one. If it's too loud add one performance box. They do sound really good with the right exhaust.

Trust me- a remap alone will give you what you want out of the car. Downpipe and exhaust and some RK peri peri will give you the tone you yern for... diesel FTW!!!

I saw a 2013 330d msport with 68000 km this week for R305 000.
If you really set in selling, and if you can get anything more than R350k for your car, take it!

Try to find someone who has a decent freeflow exhaust on a 330d to listen to - they sound pretty good without or smallish silencers. My (ex) E90 330d used to have a freeflow which had a nice deep growl.
Hate to be a party pooper on the 1/235i, but remember that some of that sound is artificially created.
I'd say keep the 330d, mod it after MP and have some fun that way. Not a replacement for a petrol 6, but a close 2nd when modded properly.
