I have sourced KYB front shocks for R1510 each and currently in stock
and when I asked for a matching rear set of KYB shocks, the answer was no stock.

so from my side I could get you KYB front and Gabriel rear

and similar situation on Monroe shocks, rear shocks only available, nil fronts

Thanks for all your efforts trying to source the shocks for me Ralf, much appreciated, but will like to have the same brand all-round. Therefore I will put in Sachs or Gabriels tomorrow at Nigel.

it won't be Gabriel, as I phoned Gabriel head office, and they told me that the Gabriels 70789 and 70790 required for your car, has to date never been brought into SA ..yet
probably going to be Sachs

I will inspect them first Ralf, if it is not any of the brands touted around here on the forum, then I will not take them. The car is still fine, I just want to replace them now as a safety precaution because my wife uses the car more than me, and mostly travels with my two daughters!

I would go Bilstein

I called these guys (sollysexhaustcentre) they have Gabriels and SACHSs. A co-worker of mine recons Gabriels are a good brand, and should be able to do sterling job...!

Never had to change shocks before, I am clueless as which brands are good and to be trusted, but I noticed on previous posts upon further research that Bilsteins are highly recommended as well! Thanks Luis... :coolShake:

What did they quote you?

After I changed the shocks on my E46 320i Individual (back when I had the car), I noticed a distinct difference in the ride quality / comfort and not in a good way.....Gabriel's replaced the oem......my 2c is go with something better. Moranor's pricing on Koni's were relatively not too bad in comparison to the other popular brands but I'm sure will beat them on the quality side. If it is a daily driver with your family in it I suggest you spend a little more so that the drive is always enjoyed.

I am at Solly's at Nigel, they are putting in Gabriels, I will give feedback a little later once I am back home in PTA.

What is the part number of the Gabriel's being fitted, for as I mentioned the correct part numbers 70789 and 70790 (front left/right) "according to Gabriel HQ" have never been brought into SA yet.

e36 shocks cant physically fit the e92 so the question is what did they fit?

I have updated my earlier post, dyslexia

the shocks are for an E87 1 series

@Moranor

The ride back home was smooth and there was nothing noticeably odd in the way Bantllhoile was handling the corners and the road in general. I must say I am happy with the work done by the guys from Nigel, must also say a big thank you to Jamil. Your help is much appreciated

interesting
so 1 series shocks physically fit the 3 seires (E92), but what are the further ramifications when it comes to handling, insurances, motorplan if these shcoks are fitted, seeing that as mentioned by Ralf, that no correct Gabriel shocks have been imported in to SA for the E92, is it ok to fit 1 series shcocks instead

On that table they are also listed for E90 and E93.

so what makes the shocks for the E92 so special, that there is no "alternative" model number for them

Would be interesting to know. If anything, I would have thought that the E93 shocks would be more "special".
