Shiny knob

The 540i gear knob has seen better days so I wanted to see if I could clean it up a bit . The varnish was flaking off , the plastic piece with the digits on is breaking so I will replace it later .

First I sanded it clean .




Then came the smooth sanding with 2000 sandpaper and three coats each with a sanding between . Came out very smooth , pity about the top though...

I used Woodoc number 10 with imbua tint.....left over from another job .

Fantastic! Have never played around with their tints, but Woodoc has great stuff! :thumbs:

I was happy with the finish , I used 2000 grade sandpaper , it is very smooth . I will find out later what the original gear knob costs .....I suppose I can fit a freeflow system to my e36 for the same money ..:rollsmile: .
