Service Indicator Reset - REVERSAL !!

Greetings, Fanatics.

This may come forward as a very strange question, but I do have my reasons for wanting to know this. We all know how to reset the Service Indicator Lights on an E39 - plenty references to that.

What I would like to know is this - is it possible to undo, reverse, or any other description, the service indicator lights? In other words, you have done the reset, and have a bunch of green lights. Is there a way to "set" the lights to indicate that an Inspection Service is due?

Just wondering :cartel:

I highly doubt it can be done in the cabin. Perhaps via coding? Not sure.

Why, though? :fencelook:

Simply put, my ride is due a major service. As per the norm, I always use the Agents. However, I recently went to a local shop just to have codes read, to see if anything was amiss before I send to the agents; things I might fix/repair myself at a lower cost than I'd pay the dealer during the service. When this dude checked codes, he went and reset my service indicator. I'd feel an idiot sending the car to the agents for a major, when the car says all is good.

If it is that simple...., the agents should not be concerned whether or not the service indicator is showing or not.

Out of plan..,. your money.....

This is possible via coding. On all my cars I have brought down servi e intervals from 25K to 10K as well. I think the procedure would be to make it 1km wait for it to trip and set it back to normal interval. But you would need the tools though
