Service Indicator Question

Does the car permanatly have a service indicator closer to the service time?

I have 700km to go according to the car on startup, but the SERVICE light displays briefly when I start the car up. Is this just the normal start up checks for the car or must I now go book the car in?
Total mileage on the car is 9500km.

I could RTFM this, but I would probably have a better chance of finding world peace!

Ok thanks!

it's normal checks it does everytime you star the car up but i would say if you need a loan car etc. book it in around 2 weeks before it's due. they will do the service already if its that close to service time.

Hi Beastie

Just to explain, your car works on conditional servicing, in that it keeps a record of your driving style and habits and adjusts the servicing according to that.

Usually your intervals are every 2 years or 30 000km.

Your service indicator (Pic of a MINI on a lift) will come on 1000km prior to your service or the moment an inspection is needed on the car. In other words, two years has passed and you have not done 30 000km.

In the above case the service the word "Service" comes onto the screen.

If you delve in your on board computer you can actually see exactly what the car requires, be it s brake fluid change, oil change, inspection etc and book it in over the phone accordingly.
