Good Day once again to the Fanatics

A while ago I got the opportunity to work on another car for one our members.

Having worked on his BMW Z4 M Coupe, he asked me to do another Definitive Detail on his BMW E46 M3.

With much excitement, I arrived to a beautiful day and a beautiful M3.

The car was rather clean, but did have a fine layer of dust on the paintwork - the mag wheels were coated in brake dust and the front of the car was littered with bugs.

I began by working the mag wheels with some APC as well as giving the arches a thorough scrub following through to coating the bugs to make them softer to remove.

The car was then foamed, left to dwell for 10 minutes and then hosed down with.

I pulled the M into the sunlight once dry to check for damage and was glad to note that this car was in very good condition. Other than some light holograms and a few deeper swirls near the rear fenders the car was simply lacking that extra bit of shine it deserved.

The car was pulled inside and taped up and polishing commenced with a green polishing pad and Chemical Guys Pro Cut 2 followed by a single pass of Megs #85 and a final pass on a finishing pad with Ultimate Compound.

Take a look at these pictures and notice the colour differences:

With the day closing to an end I pulled the car outside to check for any remaining defects before packing her away for the night.

Day two started with a re-wash, re-dry and a bit of scrubbing in the engine bay. Once prepared I gave layered the car in a coat of Chemical Guys Extreme Top Coat Sealant followed by two coats of Collonite. Viva le Gloss!

With the paintwork sorted, I continued to wet vac the interior, apply trim dressing, moisturize and clean the leather and buff the glass to a splendor. Rim Wax bought the mag wheels back to life and the tyres and arches were dressed to complete the look.

Ladies and Gents, the after photos of this detail contain pure, unadulterated ///M beauty - You have been warned!

The owner seemed blown away with the results and I too was extremely happy with the overall finish achieved. The car looked in showroom condition - But better!

So, what do you think?

Epic car and very good work!

Just for future reference to remove the side grills on these cars take about 10 second and its really allot easier than taping them up.

Also I have found that it is unwise to apply tyre dressing to these cars since the handling deteriorates quite noticeably since as the tyres flex in the corners the dressed area of the tyre touch the road and these have no grip at all. It makes the rear end want to step out allot easier.

As always Mike your work was exemplary. I was blown away by the results:)
Both cars look absolutely amazing!
I will be bringing you back for some of my other toys.
The GTR should be back by months end and miracles may never cease and the M5 may make an appearance before the end of february.
Thanks and Cheers
