There is Sasol Station in Rosebank ( Jan Smuts ) i was told had the cheapest fuel around if anbody is that side, but then i found Sasol on Riley Rd ( Edenvale ) , that had cheaper Diesel than most stations iv'e filed up at.:=):

I'm finding conflicting information and results from this 10ppm story.

Initial impression we all have is that we are getting better economy and more power and cleaner engines etc... But I'm not so sure anymore.

Having had 2 tanks of 10ppm back to back I can now almost immediately see that I'm getting more range from my current 50ppm tank. Doing some research shows that the sulpher purifying process actually reduces the energy content of the Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel (ULSD). So it has less BTU per gallon than higher sulpher diesels.

Also I'm reading that the higher sulpher has better lubricity properties?

There are also unclaimed statements that say the ULSD produce less power than regular or higher sulpher, however apparently the new ULSD has a higher Cetane rating to offset the lower energy content.

What we do know for sure is that ULSD is healthier for environment and for the car's catalytic equipment. And that the motor is burning cleaner with less smoke.

From personal experience I've noticed that with 50ppm my car is running much stronger than it does with 10ppm. In terms of lengths I'm talking about 3-5 car lengths :shocked:

Lastly I noticed something I've never noticed before. On low RPM's it sounds like the car is pinging a lot harder and then smooths out as the boost is intorduced at higher rpms.

Needless to say I'm going to stick to 50ppm as the car feels overall more happy with it.

I've given up on 10ppm and have reverted to using standard 50ppm diesel from whichever garage seems to be run the best nearby :dunno:

Guess I'll have to run a full tank of Shell 50ppm and then do a Dynolicious test to compare some 0-100 runs 10ppm vs 50ppm

Will be interesting to see your take on it. I haven't measured 0-100 times but from our method of testing the 10ppm is much slower.

well the time to beat is 9.30 sec.

Will fill the car With V-Power this Sunday, drive it for a week and then do the test to compare.

Ok so weekend driving using 50ppm again (Shell ran dry on diesel in Boksburg) went with Engen dynamic diesel and after driving about 300km on the weekend I can def say that she is lighter on fuel and my butt dyno tells me that she's more responsive. Will make a plan to take her to the private test track end of the week for a few 0-100 sprints to compare.

Time for a little update:
Firstly I won't be going back to the 10PPM diesel.

After a week of driving Engine Dynamic diesel I didn't see any real performance gains or losses. I did manage to do a 0-100 on 9.02 seconds, such a small difference so will call it no real gain or loss in power.

BUT my fuel consumption is a lot better. I used to avg 6.9L/100km (10ppm) , with the same driving style my car is sitting on 6.3L/100km now after 298km.

0.3 sec is significant in my book if the method of measurement is reliable.
0.6L/100km is also a significant amount
