Hi guys

This is my first post on the forum and would like some advise.

i currently own a 2012 f20 120d msport, it has 73000km on the clock and is running out of maintenance plan in July. I got the car in 2014 and it hasn't given me any hassles to date.Id really like to know from those who have experience with the car the approximate running costs i.e service, replacement of brakes.......

Thanks :coolShake:

Renew your motorplan. End of story!

With that mileage, shouldn't be more than R10k.
Consider the cost, and let us know how much it is. Once considered, we can possibly tell you if there are better options available

Yeah any dealer will assist you, just have your VIN and KM's ready.

They pull it from head office. So call any dealer really as the money is paid to head office not a dealer.

Iv got a quote from BMW, they've slapped me with with a 16k quote to extend the maintenance plan to 100 000km, would you reckon thats a fair deal?

100 000km - 73 000km = 27 000km for R16 000 = 59c per kilometer.

Personally, ill take that R16 000 and put it away for a rainy day fund.

If you are really paranoid, maybe consider a cheaper 3rd party warranty?

A friend of mine just took out a plan for his 120d from Auto & General. He claims he has Unlimited cover on all major components for R140pm. His 120d just came out of MP

That's 5 months from now.

If he does 1250km a month (15k km a year), the car will be just over 80 000km when the extension kicks in. (End of July 2017).

That brings it to 80c a km.

With only 20 000km to 100 000km, he might end up paying R16 000 for a single service. I wouldn't do it.

I think 3rd party might make the most sense.

keep your money if you do low mileage, invest it rather and get a cheap warranty.
maintenance is cheap

If I were you id make sure you get your brakes , discs and pads done and any other issues sorted before July.
These cars are reliable and don't give any hassles.
as above id save the the Mplan renewal money for a any unforeseen issues. which im sure you wont have if driven and taken care off properly.
