would the side wall of a rft bulge even if damaged. its so reinforced? i have seen the side wall of a rft cracked on the inside but had no idea it was except for bad handling.

Certainly a good point! It's probably a case of taking a close look around the repaired area for any signs of fatigue cracking or so. Bulging does happen with RFT's, but usually when driven over potholes etc, so maybe less likely to see from a failing puncture repair. But still worth keeping an eye out for...

Absolutely! The purpose of a spare wheel is to get you safely to the nearest town where you can have the punctured tyre repaired or replaced. I'd rather have a space-saver if in the middle of the Karoo with a flat RFT tyre! :thumbs:
