That is unsettling - you would think that someone would take the time to tell you what if any special precautions to take as per the running in of the new engine.
My theory of motorplan (probably not a revelation for most) is that it is designed to take car of your car to the minimum degree for their costs - so lengthy service intervals saves them on oil and ultimately labour over the lifespan of the typical car. In my case, I have done a little less than 10k km in the year that I've had the car - service indication shows that it is only due in the next 18k km or Jan 2012. Then motorplan ends mid 2012 and can't be extended any further. Personally I'd rather change oil and filters at least once a year or even shorter in terms of mileage.
And after all of this they never really indicated what was the course of your old engine's strange wear??
