It sounds great, but I somehow think it won't perform better. We had a look inside the x-pipe and it's pure beauty. That exhaust was truly well engineerd. Tinkering too much with it doesn't sound like a good idea. Maybe just the decat :thumbs:

I recently started tracking the car this year so ideally I would like to get a seperate set of mags and semis so I stop destroying my road tyres (those things aren't cheap), so that is probably priority 1 next year.

The x-pipe is going to be pretty expensive also, so being realistic if I went down this route it would be a while away and after a few other things first.

But agree - any power / acoustic gains will be minimal at best from it.

Dont bother with the x pipe .
You not gonna get extra horses.
I also did the back boxes and dynod , too loud and lost power , dont mess with the x pipe.
I put my orig boxes back.
the orig x pipe is a straight thru design.

A decat will giv you some hp , but its gonna throw fault codes.

I have a z4m as well.
I had replaced the rear with straight thru boxes custom made and did a full 63mm xhaust including modded xpipe.
the stock xpipe is already well made and hardly produces any restriction.
the exhaust was too loud and drowned out my intake.
and i prefer induction over exhaust noise.
I replaced the stock rear boxes , but the exhaust didnt make any more power than the stock system(with decat).
I have plenty dyno runs that told me this.

I have read this on the BM forums in the States also, the standard pipe (barr the Catt) is very well made for the car, the only improved changes they are getting is sound. but thats what we luv...:inlove:

Agree Mike :thumbs:

Those boxes must have been pretty stuffing loud. Even with the RE boxes the induction noise is easily audible, in fact below 4.5k I would say its the dominant noise in the cabin.

Induction is my love .. i wish i could make my induction 2wice as loud.

I have a self made induction with a larger diameter m3 silicone bend , 150mm bellmouth , aluminium tube and water jet cut flanges for the maf sensor.

very simple - but freed up a good few horses.
( i have about 30 dyno pulls on this car testing various stages - all with ecu adapted! )
