Its coming... Insurance is paying... Total damage just over R11k. She goes into the shop on the 2nd of November, that's the earliest they can accommodate me. So for now, we exercise patience

This is a post I never ever in my life thought I would have to make. Especially concerning this car. I actually can't quite believe I'm sitting here typing this.

Sadly. It's time to say goodbye to my dear E39 and lay her to rest.

Last Saturday night outside George on the N2 I was involved in a tragic accident involving a pedestrian.

The resulting damage is going to be enough for insurance to write her off. I'm devastated to say the least. But Leah did her job and kept both me and my passenger safe.

Below is a picture to illustrate the damage done. Damage done to the bumper, bonnet, headlight, windscreen, front fender, roof, interior fittings and probably some other smaller things.

From day one she's been such a dream to own. Nothing but smiles and reliable motoring. As those of you who have followed my journey with this car will know, the E39 has been my dream car for many many years. Some say that you should rather let cars like this stay in your dreams and in magazines and posters. But in my case, she lived up to and exceeded all of my expectations! I've had the privilege of enjoying 65 000 amazing KM with her.

On an interesting little side note. She has a production date of May the 4th 2001. She died on May the 7th 2016... 15 years and 4 days was her life span... I was lucky to enjoy just under 2.5 years with her.

I could ramble on about all of the fantastic memories I've had with this car but I'd rather not. Its amazing how a car can have such an impact on ones life and how attached you get to them...

In my mind there is no fitting sendoff to this car. All I can really say is Rest in Peace Leah. I'm more than proud of you. There is no replacing you. Never in my lifetime. Never ever.
