sclass what car are you driving ? e36 328i auto should have 3.46 diff ratio , it works nice on my e36 325i ( non vanos ) .
Here at powerflow in East London headers and dual 50 mm pipes for e36 are R6000 !!!!

Ray@ I have an E36 328i coupe. All I know is I get 2.5k RPM at an indicated 120kph.

Moranor@ If possible I'd really love to have this done in Pretoria but depending on who's offering what then I might be willing to travel further. But you're right about waiting for Freerider's feedback. I'd really love a little more kick SOON,everyone in a T/TDi/D/Dci keeps challenging!!I'm really getting annoyed with these forced-induction owners...!

cheaper routes will get you more or less the same results in performance. if you're really anal about that extra 1hp on the wheels then go with RG.

5k for a CAI system?? really.....cmon.

Whoa, chill Novio! I'm not advocating for RGM, I'd asked for a quote and I thought his prices were rather much. That's why I made the thread to promote discussion and alternatives. I personally can't afford those prices...

So what options do you suggest?

freerider did an decat and an M50 manifold wait a bit and see what the outcome is...

I see you from Swaziland how far you willing to travel to get this done? if you can see yourself coming to PMB then maybe contact chiplogic on the forum and ask them... im sure they have done this to a few cars  i could also recommend an exhaust guy in pmb if you decide to come this way...

I have the cats cut out, and I HAVE the M50 mani at home, just havent got around to installing it yet. My car dyno'd 139kw and 280nm as it is right now.

soz man:) wasnt trying to sound aggressive.

i'll give u a list of mods done on mine so far and the costs involved:

1. m50 manifold ( cant comment on price as I bought mine installed already ) Searh for one at scrapyards....you might score getting one for a couple of hunderd bucks.

2 Software remap ( 3k at FRC in midrand.....this mod alone got me 10 extra hp and 20 extra torque on the wheels....as well as made the car more fuel efficient )

3. powerflow performance exhaust with decat. call powerflow in edenvale to get a quote....im pretty sure they will be cheaper than most....and I personally have no complaints about the quality of the exhaust.

I have not bothered with a cai kit yet, as most people say it will only increase power between 5-8 hp.....and that figure is only relevant with a heat shield. Without it, its almost pointless installing one. 5 hp is not somehing you will notice. a pretty good kit should cost you about 2.5k

If you want to feel a difference, i would suggest doing the remap and exhaust 1st:rollsmile:

Hehe no stress!

I thought that a re-map should be done last if you are going to do many mods that change the breathing characteristics? So if I do the exhaust and re-map and later do the M50 and a CAI I'll require another re-map? Right?

Is that 20 extra torque in nm or pounds/ft? It seems like a lot!

Seeing as you've already got the M50 care to share how it drives? I'm particularly interested in your bottom end...(that sounds bad!)

from what i understand, you will not need to remap every time u install a mod. just make sure that the software upgrade covers most if not all the specifics. the guys at FRC will not charge you after their initail 3k fee....well they didnt charge me. all you will be paying for is a new dyno run if you want, and thats 150 bucks. even if you want tweaks done to the remap, you will not be paying 3k a shot.

after all my mods, i have to say, that my car currently feels similar to driving my brother's 540i. obviously I dont think the power matches, but it somehow turned into a powerful luxury car....and i'm smiling every single day because of it. And it sounds like....heaven.

and when the vanos kicks in, at about 4000rpm.....woooooosh!

the torque is in nm;)

My car with M50 mani, decat only, K&N filter and UniQ produced 149kw and 266Nm - and it was a bit sick at the time.

Just fixed the engine and added some Van de Linde cams and busy running in at the moment. Should be able to dyno by mid/ end August and will share the results. Hoping for around 165 - 170kW :=):

I'm liking this! M50, de-cat, remap for around R4-5k. I can put off the exhaust for later. Moranor says a freeflow and auto 'box is a bad combo because of the resonance at low rpm. But it can't be worse than the drone my rear bearings are making now!

So what does an M50 manifold look like just in case some unscrupulous scrap yard dealer gives me an M20 or something...

go find yourself a messed up looking 325i and yank off its manifold:)

the ports are bigger than the stock 328 ones.

Ok cool, but does it matter if the manifold is from Vanos or Non-Vanos? General condition? And when I go to my ex-BM tech and ask him to do this is he going to look at me like I'm nuts??!! Oh and is it a straight swap with no additional mods? And while the manifold's off is there anything in there we can clean/refurbish etc?

Sorry for the million questions hehe!

Newbie to this tuning stuff but here's my RGM quote for my new BMW

DeCat R4800
Ecu remap R10800
Performance air filter R1120

A bit steep but I will pay my only issue, don't slaughter me I've asked every to no avail, but warranty and motor plan will it be voided and what for?
