Hi folks. I'll post some pics of my epic road trip in this thread. Haven't had much time to stop for photos, but here's one to get started

Hows the V8 on fuel?

Unsurprisingly very good on the open road. Averaging 10l/100km owing to plenty of windy mountain passes. Was doing 8.7 on the much flatter north island

Visiting Queenstown and Cardrona today. I think she deserves a valet when we get back to Auckland.

Stunning drive from Queenstown to Christchurch today with a stop over at Lake Pukaki.

The South Island of New Zealand certainly has some of the best scenery in the world....

How do you get from the North Island to South ... By Ferry I assume ?

Is Lake Pukaki the one near Mount Cook ?

Pictures don't ever do justice... The colour of the glacier water in those lakes are spectacular...

Looks like an epic road trip ... :praise:

Yup, you can see Mt Cook in the distance. There are two ferry services between the islands. It's not cheap though. The return tickets for the two cars with 6 people came to $1100...still cheaper than flights and rental cars.

But yeah, photos just don't tell the whole story and there are also plenty of places that you cannot stop to take photos. Tomorrow we head up the east-coast from Christchurch back to Picton and Wellington. Two more stops after that and then back home to Aucklandfontein.

Forgot this beauty taken in the Lindis Pass. We could not stop for any photos yesterday sadly. Going to try and get creative in Wellywood today.
