Update time:fencelook:
So lets pick up where we left off...BMWFanatics Dyno Day 2019:smilebounce: ...Great event, with some proper Bavarian Power!
The 330i did decently...coming in at 3rd place in its class.
Power figure was a bit low compared to another 330i:skit:, not really sure what is the reasoning behind this is (dyno? wrong gear? etc) ...on to some pics:thumbs:
Next up...was the sound install :smilebounce:
Components used:
-Pioneer 10" shallow mount in a specced slim line enclosure
-Sony monoblock amplifier
-JBL 'OFC' 8 Gauge Wiring
-No name brand LOC
Total cost = R1050 :fencelook:
Did not take pics of the actually install ...but basically, I tapped the rear speaker leads into the LOC, fed the cables to the OEM amp location ...tapped into the remote signal that Osiris was kind enough to leave tucked away and wired up the sub:thumbs:
Best part...the strut brace gets to stay in place, and I have retained the usable boot space:=):
In terms of bass performance, its decent, but I definitely need to improve on it.
In search of the lost ponies...@kyle suggested the use of some LiquiMoly intake cleaner.
@kyle also paid me a visit on an early Saturday morning, to lend a helping hand..as cleaning the intake does require the additional fanatic ...Luckily, it is a very simple task (especially when you just watching)...remove the airbox, start the car up, and spray the cleaner directly into the intake at 5 second intervals, whilst trying to prevent the engine from stalling (holding the revs at -+2k RPMs) ...which was my job:fencelook:
The amount of carbon build up was substantial to say the least :hammerhead:...with the entire garage turning into a cloud of white smoke...after the can had depleted, we let the car idle for a few mins and turned it off, whilst we tackled another job (which I will get to in a bit) ...Started the car up shortly after, it did battle to turn over initially, but once it was up and running (with quite a bit of smoke exiting the exhaust) we took the car for a run with some 3rd gear pulls to burn out the remaining LiquiMoly in the system ...within 5mins, things were smoke free and power delivery was noticeably quicker and pulled much smoother (most noticeable when trying to pull away in first) , in fact, my fuel consumption has also come down:bravo:
So with an active search for mtech 2 seats and steering wheel
@evnmopwr came through and managed to source a mtech 2 steering wheel in fair condition...with no hesitation, I grabbed it:=):
Before:
Dropped the wheel off with kyle as soon as I received it, he worked some of his detailing magic to get the contaminates out and renew the msport trim, followed by a redye courtesy of McCarty Autotrimmers...the results...
And whilst we waited during the intake cleaning process...the steering was installed

raise:
The change that the mtech 2 wheel brings to the driving experience is remarkable, especially with the suspension setup that is on the car, the sportier wheel definitely inspires alot more confidence whilst behind the wheel!
Bringing this over due update to a close, is a pic from a recent trip up to Drakensberg...
