Every part of the project brings new insight into how BMW built these cars. Whole waiting for key suspension parts, somebody decided to not replace them on the car, I was looking at the throwing stars, and the work that needs to be done there.

Originally they were done in the following way:
- throwing star insert silver
- spokes and the back of the mag, black
- lip and edges, silver or polished aluminum

Part number on one of the black spokes indicates which is which:

Painted in silver 36112226706, polished aluminium 36112227743

Just read through from post #1, absolutely amazing. I'm left speechless with the time, effort and dedication you have put into a truly great motor. Keep it up, I've subscribed to the thread and I am looking forward to viewing the finished project. :bravo::thumbs:

Ok, waiting on some bump stops from Germany, not ordered via BMW here but a independent dealer till then need to wait.

Rest of back suspension is almost ready.

Also bought some accessories, a petrol canister that goes inside your spare:

Needs some cleaning and painting.
