I 'restored' my E34 without any experience at all but did all the work myself even the spray job! The best 6 months I experienced in a long time!

With little money and lots of help from fellow BMW enthusiasts, and some great breaker yards in PTA, I truly experienced the joy of building an E34 - however, not as lucky as you are to work on an M5!

Looking forward to your progress on the car! Good luck and may the project bring you even more joy than what I had working on my E34! And I had only moments of joy! :thumbs:

Like I said check the oil then just go drive it and enjoy for a week first before hitting restore mode. Let the character of the car get under your skin first then when you are restoring you have so much more motivation.

Adi: Was wondering if you can post more info on the door locks?

Where did you get them?
Are they OEM?
How do you match them with your key?
And what does it all cost (Locks + matching)?

My drivers side lock is getting a bit rough when using the key. I have to use the key as the alarm would go off when ever it feels like it if I turn it on.

will post some pics on the smashed up door locks, bought a new one on ebay, and getting a full set, a good locksmith will match key to lock, one set I am getting is complete with ignition cylinder....being around R1700 for the full 5 locks and cylinder with 1 key.

Driving a bit difficult, car has no indicators, but drives nicely.....
