car needs a respray, seats redone, and a really really really good scrub, seat re-dyed, radio sound installed, brakes done, disks are rusted and gone, so a fair bit, would say around 1 years worth of work and effort, BMW concours 2013

holes on the side, is a gear lock installation...that needs to be removed! And the panel fixed!

I cannot beleive they did that to the instrument cluster, fortunatley they are cheap on Ebay.

Adi if you send me some detailed pics I will help you with an "originality list" same as I did to get the right parts back into the car, seems they have mixed and matched a bit on your side, but car still looking good

think easiest will be to strip down, lights out, seats out rubbers out, respray then clean carpets and start section by section....

The cluster and pedals yik! Hope teh cluster can be rescued, also onboard computer is crazy, as it showed the outside temperature on Friday at -37 Degrees......

Try find a charcoal carpet for an E34, looks like they changed the interior to black

yip was changed from grey to black, have to admit somehow like the grey on black bit will try and get a black carpet, also need the safetybelt black bottom pieces for the rear.....

Have you got door panel pieces left? And your leather dye? Is there enough left to do a car?

a carcoal e34 carpet, wonder if I will find, have ordered plenty from overseas but that will be impossible to post!

and have bought two full sets of tools......including the triangles.....

I can maybe get you a charcoal carpet down here, I know of one. The plastic bits you can paint, after a good clean it works well have done it a few times.

I also had to remove a gear lock and made myself a leather covered blank cover to fill the hole.

I have plenty of leather dye left, you are welcome to it, more than enough to do an interior, hope you have a spray gun and compressor?

Send me a list of what trim you need, I'm on leave this week and will drop by my E34 scrapyard for a hunt

What do you need for the door panels?

Please check for the carpet...will be in CT towards the end of the month....
Was thinking the replace that panel, might be tricky with the stiching....
Have a spray gun and all the bits and pieces that go with it....yes please would like that remainder....
Will get you a list.....there is a driver side door armrest.....
Then also need in black the door handle opener driver and passenger on the inside, mine seem very loose....
need front seatbelt, the portion that the seatbelt clips into (passenger side), mine is broken, the back seatbelt soround at the back, mine is grey....

It is probably due to the temperature sensor being broken or just not properly connected (or not connected at all.)

not only temperature, but fuel comsuption etc etc all reading were weird and wrong

Well, how wrong? As the e34's are not known to have very accurate readout concerning fuel and range. Does it give the time and date correctly? Does the code function still work?

Well, Adi, looks like you have your work cut out for you. Good luck, bud...and don't neglect the E12 now.

haha but over 30l per 100 is a bit heavy......no that computer is mad......
and the e12 is having cluster and seats redone

On the E34 when it comes to range I agree.... you can't really rely on how far it says you can go, but I find it's pretty accurate when saying that I'm doing 20L/100km. Not sure about the M5, but 30L/100km would be if you're hammering it all the time which I doubt Adi is doing :thumb:

The computer it self might be OK though. Could just be sensors giving incorrect readings :dunno:

Rick, lets go looking....there are plenty of carpets there. We need to save those sports seats too.

Congratulations and good luck with the restore.
I hope you are using Trimcraft (Johan troski) for the reupholster.
On a side note – never ever let that s38 rotate the wrong way round. The chain will skip a tooth or 2 and bend the valves.

Weeeell, that doesn't sound that bad for an s38............, yeah that is a bit high.

What happens if you reset it while say driving on the highway?

You can make the computer more accurate by changing a few settings under the OBC's "hidden" menu -
How to correct your fuel consumption readout:
=============================================
If your car is anything like mine, the fuel consumption readout will be way out. But it can be adjusted! First, you need to measure your fuel consumption as accurately as possible, by filling up the tank, driving until nearly empty, filling again, and figuring out your fuel consumption, in either litres / 100 kms, or MPG. At this point, also note what the fuel consumption as reported by the OBC is. You need both figures to make the adjustment. Once you have that accurate figure, follow the following procedure:

Unlock the OBC as described above.

Go to test 20.

This is the existing fuel consumption constant used in the calculation.

Find the ratio between the old consumption reading, and the actual consumption reading:

For litres per 100kms, this is the actual consumption divided by the reported consumption.

For MPG, it is the opposite. Ie. It is the reported conumption divided by the actual consumption.

Now multiply that ratio with the existing fuel consumption constant, the result is the new constant.

Simply type in the new constant, and press S/R NOTE: Some claim that for some reason, if you don't drive your car for a day or two, the constant will reset back to 1000.

The weird temp reading is a busted/dodgy sensor.

Thanx, would not dare to do any highway driving.........the brakes are very rusted, all needs replacing, pads and disks.......and indicators are not working!
as soon as my garage is finsihed, will start a complete strip down......remove all interior, hoping to change the carpet to black.....and then re-build section by section.......after the respray.....only then will start tackling the mechanics and brakes.

suspect sensors all around need replacing as well
