iI’m running IE8 and I’ve got a strange thing happening, whenever I’m posting it takes forever to recognize what I’ve typed and then becoz of the delay the words come out incorrectly with spaces in the wrong places and capital’s the wrong letters, etc. I noticed that when I type, the smily icons freeze and then after typing a letter it moves again…Is there perhaps some setting I need to change? I currently use word to type and then copy and paste into the post…

Have you always had this issue? When did you start to notice it? Also, how old is your PC what is the specs?

Yes always had this issue, but I’ve only been using the site a lot this week since I purchased a BMW :) I’ve got an IBM Thinkpad W500 (maybe 6 to 9 months old), and running on the companies internet which with other forums and sites is perfect…

I think most users here use IE8. Do you have any other browser you can use? Something like forefox or Google Chrome or can you update IE8 to IE9? If it does the same thing in other browsers the the problem might not be with IE8.

Will see if windows has some updates, can’t use IE9 as that is only for Windows 7 if I remember correctly…Can’t use another browser as it’s a company laptop :(

IE9 should work on Vista SP2 and windows 7.

From what I can gather on the net, your laptop was first released in July, 2008. Even so, it shouldn't have any issues with the forum. The delay you're experiencing could be a result of something on your laptop not liking the animated smileys.

To test this you will have to tell explorer not to load the images. Below is a link that explains how you disable images in IE. What you do is, open a thread and scroll down to the quick reply. Do the steps in the link below and then refresh the page. Try typing so see if it makes a difference. When done testing, you can just turn Show Images back on.

EDIT on 21 June 2011:
Regarding the black screen problem users have on older browsers:

When some the scripts were first used it didn't work properly in the latest versions of some browsers (Specifically IE9). The script was then updated so it would work in the latest browser versions. Unfortunately, updating it made it not work in IE7. The best would be for users to update their internet explorer to IE8/9 or start using something like FireFox or Google Chrome.

Download links:
FireFox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
(FireFox will import any stored info from Internet Explorer)

Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/

IE9: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home
(I haven't personally downloaded IE9 as I only use FireFox. Please let me know if there is any issues downloading it and I'll find a different link.)

If I follow this, then typing is fine, but then no pix load up on any of the sites :(
I’ll see if I can find another setting that would help with this as well, coz prefer the show pix tab to be on…

This was just to confirm that it had something to do with the animated smiley's. Will see if there is something we can do about it. :thumb:

I made a good few posts yesterday and the site is being particularly slow to respond when browsing or hitting the submit button. Any other MyBB forum I surf is not giving me problems, so something must be holding the comms up?

I had this issue between 9 - 11pm last night. It only happens when i press the reply button...takes awhile. No problems today. Admin should send a ticket to the webmaster & our host to check.

11am this morning

Code:
Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is the site running off IIS or Apache?

Same errors again today :/
At 13:45 and 14:20.

Maybe the server capacity is giving up?
