Please can someone help

The strangest thing happened this morning, went outside pressed the unlock button on the remote and ..... nothing, okay then I tried 12 more times....still nothing.

Used the key to gain entry, drove kids to school, got home jogged around the internet found almost nothing on specific problem.

Then tried process of elimination :thinker: - fuses, starting in the boot, replacing even if looks okay.

Tried and it worked!! Closed the boot and ran inside to tell the MRS how clever I was and the problem is fixed. Well then I show her.....nothing, it does not work. :banghead:

So I tell her relax I'll check again, open the boot with the key and viola....the remote works.....

Ok so it works with the boot open.....:dunno:

What could be the fault?

The wiring to the boot lock position sensor could have a break in it. (When the boot is open the wires twist and make contact)

The wires go up near the hinge on the right hand side of the car in the rubber thing, that's where they break.

Okay now I'm pulling my hair out

Checked the wires, found nothing jumping out at me - cut the surrounding rubber boot into pieces, found a little exposed area, covered it with insulation tape, problem still persists......

Don't cut up the car so quick... sheesh.

The copper breaks inside the insulation.

Try this:

Open the boot and use a screwdriver or something to latch the lock closed, make sure the boot interior light goes out (We are fooling it into thinking it's closed, but the bootlid is in the open position)

Then with the boot lid open but latched what does the alarm do? Try it in the almost closed, mid, and fully up position all with the latch closed. If it still gives carp as before, then it is the wires, if it doesn't then it's something in the latch.

Yes Ian, sorry............ I know you have been trying to phone me, but in meetings all day, have my laptop with me, so can still post here every now and then, but cellphone use gets our asses kicked.

THANKS rick540 :clap::clap::excited::excited::)

Problem solved:
I followed Rick540's instructions. Locked the boot lid in the open position, all the boot lights out and nothing....I then took each wire individually and played with it....whilst pushing the remote buttons and viola...a grey one, removed a section....replaced with new...tested 27 million times.....PERFECT
