E46 330d manual 5 speed...

From full tank to full tank I get 900km on average...

That is seriously impressive, you sir have a very special 330d and you should keep it till the wheels fall off! if your getting 900km mixed city an highway then my 330d is brocken :( :thumbdo:

I OBC currently says 7.7 but its a load of hogwash how these obc's have been designed as they are so easy to fool, go on high way for a 100km drive and reset it once you have hit 118kph and on cruise control and you will knock that consumption down to the very low 5s or 4s I have even gotten my 330d to read 3.2 for a period of about 35mins! then continue this type of driving for around 100km and you will get a nice false low reading on your obc for a long time which will very gradually go up.

But then you can go the opposite route LOL and this part makes me LOL hard....reset your OBC and put car in sports mode, turn off DSC etc and put foot flat.....drive like this for a couple mins and you should get some fantastic double digits, now watch how long it takes to get that reading down even after you drive like a human being for a long period of time, or you can wait till your stuck in heavy traffic and reset it and do that for a two hours or so that your stuck in traffic and watch how frikken long that reading stays high, the only way to lower it is to either fool it by resetting it on highway at a speed just under 120kph or go on a trip to durban or cape town it will eventually after around 4 hours of driving go down.

Plane and simple its a pos that couldnt give you the right reading if it tried. I reset my OBC before my last full up and have it reading 7.7, yet I only managed to get 656km to a full tank, yet when I put these digits into fuelly I get a reading of 9.3 hahahaha all this because I drove to alberton a couple times last weekend so the OBC got confused and almost died of enthusiasim!

My E46 330d 6spd gets around 800km on a tank quite frequently. A lot of it being highway. And depends on the leadfoot. I've managed 950km once. With range showing 100km to go and res light on. That was about as frugal as I could get it. That was pre any of my mods.

Highway driving these cars should get well over 1000km to a tank, but in town driving these E46 330d's are quite thirsty, getting 900km to a tank in town driving is pretty much a miracle!

Ive tried my car on the highway and the needle hardly moves over 100'ds of Km but soon as I hit stop go type driving she starts gulping the diesel. and Fuelly confirms this as most of the E46 330d get the exact same consumption as I'm getting. Don't get me wrong its much better consumption than a 325i or so but its definitely not gonna get 900km in town traffic.

Apparently with de-dpf + downpipe + EGR delete and a good remap the consumption goes down quite considerably, I did notice my consumption go down after a de-dpf and EGR delete...im yet to do a remap though.

What you say rings true for me.

I drive a 2003 330D 5 speed auto, 135KW. I suppose this is the worst possible box for fuel consumption.

I get 650~700kms a tank, car reading ~10.1l/100kms average, at best.

While I'm not a slow driver on the highway, I drive smart in town and never race light to light.

This just doesn't figure to me, and I think the car needs to visit a good service center.

Any recommendations?

My avg. with my 320d E90 LCi so far ( 3 fills) is between 7.2 and 7.4L/100 with a 60km round trip a day.

I'm sure I could get it down to high 6's if I really tried very hard , driving like an old ballie not getting the ass to step out at every opportunity and not enjoy the 380NM waiting to be unleashed.

But then again I'm not an old ballie and I love the feeling when the ass steps out and why have all that torque if you don't regularly use it.

I have calmed down on unleashing the 380 newtons, as traffic to work and back does not always allow for it. So my consumption dropped to 6l/100km in town.

I'll try that once I get the car back.
ten to one not going to be able to cut back but will give it a try once I'm used to the torque again (the 118 only have 250NM) .

E90 330d - Xcede Stage 2 and 76mm DP. :inlove:

Daily Comuting - 8.7l/100km on avg. This is 80km per day, mixed between highway and stop go traffic.

Open road/long distance - 5.7l/100km was the best. This was JHB-DBN.

I managed 1100km on a tank, drove to Durban, then to Wild Coast and back to dbn on one tank. Kept to 130km/h as much as i could.

The best average long dist consumption I got on my E39 540i was 9.9l/100km. That was with cruise set to 140. average mixed is around 12.8l/100km.

I just bought an e65 730d 3 days ago and I was pleasantly surprised to get 8.5l/100km on the same 400km run that i got the 9.9 with my 540. And I was NOT cruising at 140km/h.

I used my dads e60 530d a month ago and I got around 7.8l/100km on the same 400km run.

I dont know whats up with my car... on my previous tank I did 1105km in one go, highway driving at +- 130km/h and when I filled up I had used 58 liters. Thats about 5.3l/100km but my problem is now that I've just finished my first tank since then (6 weeks later, yes I drive very little). I've done 520km only ... the OBC is showing 50km to go and a consumption of 9.2l/100km, I only do about 4km a day and I'm lucky if I exceed 60km/h, I think my avg speed is about 15km/h. It hasnt been this high previously, car just hit 65k km. What do you guys thinks ? Its been for a oil service about 5k km ago. Injector cleaner ?

I think you should take the car to BMW and get it checked? 520km for a 320d is pretty bad after hearing what others are getting in there 320d's

I'm gonna check what the diagnostics say, if all the injectors are doing the job right ... or if there are any other faults.

With an X3 3.0d, 98k on clock fully loaded, at 140km average, although there were a few stop goes on the route, I managed 8.3l/100km to and from East London to Durban.

Well my car recently did this ...... 123456 and she gave me 5.6 l per 100km December 2012 from Pta to Kimberly and i could literally drive to Kimberly and back with 1 tank. :joy:

Even out of Motorplan she still not disappoints as Duncan Ross is taking good care of her

Best I got was 5.5l/100km on my tuned 330d auto between JHB and DBN.
Current average with JHB traffic is sitting at 8.4l/100km.

Town driving, with alot of "motivational" pull offs lol - average around 10.2

Highway driving to durbs etc - average from 7.9 - 8.1 and the car is fully loaded for holiday with 4 occupants

Long road i get about 1080 - 1120km per tank
Town i average about 750 - 800 per tank

On a recent trip from Pretoria to Durban I averaged for the trip 4.3l/100km with my F20 120D (8 speed auto). I normally do around 23000 km a year, so the excellent economy is really appreciated.
