Real world Diesel Consumption

LFC said:
Hi guys, would like to get some real world consumption figures from tractor owners and compare them to the manufacturers claims.

Been looking at some E90 320d 135kw stats and they claim around 5.3l/100km? Anyone getting close to this?

Thanks

I think the guys should say what drivetrain their cars are also. Auto vs Manual. I think this will effect consumption a bit as well?

Looking at all the posts, I can only conclude that mine needs to go to some meetings to help with its drinking problem...
:yuck:
When I went from Pretoria to Durbs I got 5l/100km. Back I got 5.7l/100km. Both with Cruise control on 130km/h, but going back is up hill :nonono: and I had a heavy foot through the mountain passes etc.
On my daily route (20km round trip) I get about 8l/100km, no highway driving...

I do 90km a day return and average 5.5 - 6.5l/100km
On long distances its less than this and I have MSM's disease :biglol:

BTW its an AUTO!

Based on the quoted figures, I think mine is too heavy. Especially when you consider the fact that I dont often tear it!

Probably going to try the Liqui Moly as soon as I can get my hands on a technical sheet that tells me whats inside a 250ml bottle.

I once drove a 335i (N54) and the OBC reported 34l/100km. 60km on a quarter tank.:dropjaw:

My average for my 330i manual is 10-15l/100km depending on conditions and my foot's weight.

My average for my 325i manual is 9-13.8l/100km and same thing applies as above.

I average about 7.2-8.5 in town, with a sometimes heavy foot. Get about 6.5-5.9 on the highway doing 120. Though consumption is always heavier closer to service time.

E46 330d manual 5 speed...
Best obc I got was 4.7lt on cruise control on the freeway,
Averages 7.2 to 7.5 mixed daily traffic and freeway driving...

From full tank to full tank I get 900km on average...

What I noticed is that the diesels don't like traffic but definitely not as much as the patrols hate it...

Mine is in my sig (E90 330d auto). Have not done a long distance trip (out of Gauteng) since I go the car, but averaging just under 9l/100km for the last 6000KM, mostly city/heavy traffic.

E46 320d manual :
OBC reading on long distances from Jhb to Durbs = 5.6l at the legal speed of 120km/h (with the wife's drivings). But, with my driving = 5.9l
In heavy traffic anything between 6.9l up to to 8l max.

However, when I had 4x loan 15" wheels (tyre size 195/65/15), got excellent OBC reading on the long distance from Jhb to Durbs at 5.2l
Couldn't wait to get back my 17" mags after the refurbish, as those 15" wheels just didn't provide the same level of grip on the corners :yuck:

I got 5.9l/100km average over 139000km on my 2007 E90 320d....

Now I get between 4.9l/100km and 5.3l/100km on average on the F30 320d...

Long distance trips gets down to 4.1l/100km - 4.5l/100km

Ask Jandré, on the run down to George in the 330i, we managed 8.2 l/100 km over 400 km distance travelled!

But LOL, not at all in diesel fuel consumption class!
