Thanks guys,
Just another small update.
I recently got caught of guard when my boot tried to decapitate me while opening which then followed by a cringe when it bounced ever so close to the rear windscreen. Struck with fear of causing more damage I made it a priority to have it fixed.
So I ordered a new boot spring and replaced it, only to realize that I order the wrong side (Left instead of Right). I figured it's no big deal, I will just order the new one. To my surprise, no dealers in SA had stock of the part and it had to be shipped in from Germany, which took a few weeks. During that time I was extra careful when using the trunk and made sure my kids were far away.
Another item that I wanted is really small but very functional. Its a parcel holder hook. The f10 for some strange reason only comes with one where the f30 comes with two (one on each side). Its something that I tend to use very often and figured I should tackle it during the installation of the boot shock as its one of the points that needs to be removed.
I rate this a simple job and was done in less than 10 minutes which included installing a BMW air freshener kit.
Once the clips have been removed, pull off the carpet to gain access to the spring at the back.
