Ratslaaf's F10 535 (re)build

Since selling my previous F10 to buy the M3, I've been pining for an F10 again. While my old one was only a 528, it was one of the nicest cars I've had. I love the drive, love the shape and figured it's high time that I get one for a daily again.

Further to this, seeing as the M3 is pretty much done as a project, I've been looking at another project car again. I almost pulled the trigger on an F10 M5 with a missing boot, but maintenance wise I've been advised to look elsewhere. Pity, as that's just such an awesome car; maybe I will still have one in the near future...

Speaking to Leonard the other day, we got talking about his F10 535 that had a little accident. He was planning on selling, but managed to ding it just before the sale. My attention button well and truly pushed, I asked him to give me a number for the car if I were to take it as is. He came up with a fair price and we did the deal there and then.

There's a thread on here from when he got it, so I'm not going to go too much into all the options this thing has. Suffice to say, there's maybe 2 or 3 options that's NOT fitted to this car. So, for a nerd like me this car ticks more boxes than I can swing a cat at.

Let me start with pics of the damage. For those faint of heart, skip over these.

Bumper and light removed:

It looks bad, but as far as I can determine that damage is only superficial. Granted, the control arm was bent and the one oil cooler mounting bracket is also bent. Unfortunately, these 'superficial' items are also big ticket items. Just the active dynamic light is almost R30k new for the shell. And Active Dynamic wasn't a common option on these cars, so Leonard wasn't able to find one secondhand. This, and a few other things obviously helped my case when I told him I'll take it as is :)

Another thing that bothered me about the car is that it isn't an MSport. Well, seeing as the bumper has to be replaced, I figured I'd do a complete MSport conversion on the car as well.

I caught a luck, as one of my rebuilder buddies managed to have everything I need, all MSport bumpers, skirts and trim pieces. And biggest luck of all, the hens teeth Active Dynamic headlight as well.

Further to this, I've managed to find a very specific rim I was after for a while as well, a set of Alpina B7 reps brand spanking new (the only way I buy mags these days)

So far with all the above, I'm still under the cost of what a brand new Active Dynamic shell would've cost me new. Let's hope my lucky streak doesn't run out soon :)

Car is going to my buddy tomorrow for work to start on stripping a little further back to see if there's any other surprises waiting...

Those B7's!!!!!

I know right? Some people don't like the retro thing but ever since the Style 32's I've been itching to get that look on one of my cars.

Those rims are really fresh, I know we all have different taste etc but man those rims really look good. Can't wait to see them on the F10 with the MSport package.
