howzit everyone
so I went to see a 2012 F10 535d M sport for sale. Condition and maintenance all ok (incl some major maintenance done). I even drove the car on normal roads and highway and its solid, smooth (even considering current wear on tyres and power is amazing). Im comparing the drive to my other cars which are the f25 x3 20d and e46 m3.

only issues are:
rear tyres are worn, general wheel curb rash on all 4 and 1 wheel has slight buckle, and lastly diff mount needs replacing.
Mileage is 188xxx. Im looking at this as a daily. I do max 10000km a year so thinking about how long this could last me. What is a fair price? currently listed for R350k

350 is high considering you can get a 640d for 250k with under 150k km. Definitely way too high for a 2012 also. Quick search on autotrader and I can find a 2011 with 150k km for 350k, clean also. Another 2011 with 184k for 260k. Plenty of 330d for 350k, 2014 and up with far less mileage. There is a 330d with 120k km for 329k. 640d i see a couple at 350k with 140k km on the clock. Comes with the twin turbo 3 litre diesel and plenty power with the luxury, if not more luxury than the 535d.

If you really want the 535d i recommend you get one under 300k if your budget is 350k. Then spend the 50k getting everthing fixed up and the car reliable. Just on what you listed, diff mounts is about 16k (i did mine last year), tyres are 8k for the rear, refurbishing the rims is another 3.5 especially with the buckle. You are looking at at least 25k and thats assuming everything else is fine. the 2011 with 184k and 260k in price is what i would get. Then you spend 40/50 to get the car reliable enough to be a good daily. You still would be under 310k after fixing everything.

thanks alot man. Especially for the insight on how much diff mounts are, I really didnt know that. I have been monitoring autotrader. Unfortunately those 2 you mentioned are not with reputable sellers , although having said that I have not gone to view them. But thanks alot, if I go ahead I will use this to try to negotiate

At bare minimum try and get them to do the diffmounts as that is a big expense. Or discount as you want to try. Technically the dealer should sort out that and the buckle and tyres also. Typically Webuy etc sell a car as is. Every place I have bought my cars or bikes from always get the car ready to hit the road. Tyres are replaced, service done etc.
