Hi Guys,

Story below.

I took my car in for a oil service on 28/11/16 and I was advised my microfilter also needed to be replaced which i said was okay and i recieved the car back after paying 1.8k. A couple of days driving home from shopping my car started to give a warning sign which i stopped to check and I saw that my main belt had started to shred, I called my roadside assistance which flatbedded my car to my home (this was on a sunday afternoon 04/12/16) I called Auric Auto the monday and I flatbedded the car to them. They replaced all my belts and tensioners which cost just under 5k to fix. and i recieved the car back on the 12/12/16 and i did notice oil in the drip tray and i thought they cleaned the engine and its just water. I was about to drive the car to work on 16/12/16 and i saw a big oil stain on the floor of my driveway (+- 1/2 of oil ran out. Now my car is at Auric at the moment and I just recieved a quote for 12k to fix my car.

Dont Know what is going on in Cape Town... I can fully relate to your frustration, Couple a days back bought a 335i 2010. Drove to Kinmberly and my intake to turbos cracked, so low boost. Phoned the dealership Reeds N1, and had to wait a week to get my car after i opted to pay since there were unresolved issues between my dealer and warranty provider 6grand, then 5 days later got a car on lift symbol plus abs, dtc and so on and car wouldnt start. Phoned dealership again... they came fetched it and now almost two weeks later there is still no answer as to what is the cause, only speculation. So i fully support your sentiments in the fact that poor service is truelly what you get now a days.

Ai....oil service, becomes belts, becomes oil leak.....I wouldn't be happy...I haven't been been back to Auric since 2012, when I had two bad experiences..but that being said, each case on its own merit .....

Had someone go to Auric recently with a very bad service. Said they replaced something, even charged them for it. 3 weeks later warning light comes on to say it needs replacing. So they never replaced it.

Yep, doing a minor service is not rocket science. Drain oil into Sumpy. Replace oil filter. Pour in new oil. At your convenience, take Sumpy to oil recycling place (i.e. nearest establishment that services cars) and drain. Replace air filter and cabin filter (maybe, they do last a while). Also reset your flavour of SII according to instructions found on YouTube.

There is only one significant risk. You could spill some oil on your driveway and then your wife will bliksem you. You can put washing powder on the oil to make things better. In that case, your wife will bliksem you because you are using up her expensive washing powder.

Also have had bad experiences from Auric. From over filling my oil, grossly over quoting on repairs, and to one of the agents addressing me as "buddy"..!! wtf?

I live in the southern suburbs and too had excellent service from SMG Canal Walk.
