Purpose and Value of the Forum

Wow. New hear. I'm a 30 year auto tech, and I wouldn't offer unsolicited help or beat down comments. People think what they think. My Alpina 6 is disputed at every event as being put together in someone's garage because it's a non 24 valve, automatic, built in 84. It's easy to notice the lack of high mount brake lite, and state of Washington issued vin. #, but carrying a copy of the buildsheet everywhere I bring it to convince people is more of a hassle than you can think. I just let people think what they want. Proof comes to the person I will sell it to in the future. All the other tire kickers don't matter. The list of call me when you decide to sell keeps growing. Most of them are the supposidly non believers. Go figure. People are people do people say!

I agree in recent times the forum has become a place for members to squabble and argue to no positive outcome, ending in people being insulted. However I stand by the sentiment that a web platform, will never (with current technological stands) be treated as a true human interaction, hence if you don't like what you read in a thread state your piece and be done with it.

Don't comment or retaliate on a perceived insult, as there is no pride lost in losing a web debate, come guys we here with different opinions as adults surely we don't need other adults telling us what is right and wrong. Manage your own behavior and don't attempt to change\manage others.

Hopefully everyone learns to treat forums as though they were face to face with someone.

This is about the most key sentence in this entire thread. :clapper:

Couldn't agree more! Too many people hiding behind their keyboards/computers.
Common decency is all.

Good thread and it seems most people agree.

I feel it is totally uncalled for for a Fanatics to interject and question or dispute what another Fanatic is advising on. Some simply use the forum as their personal platform to be a nuisance to other users.
For eg. The For Sale section; whoever is posting there obviously needs to sell something, so let it be. There's no need to question the sale, or argue the price etc.

The For Sale section of this forum is at least better / healthier than some other car forums. When moderators or senior members don't speak out then negative comments become the norm, and the For Sale section becomes a joke. Most likely devalues the brand as well. Having said that, it would probably be difficult to script a rule to prevent it, negative comments and price criticisms etc are part of public forums.

Noted. The sad part I'd that when I post an ad in the For Sale section, everytime I receive a notification I think it's a potential buyer only to see its a useless comment...

Guess we can't negate that.

I was pleasantly surprised every time I used the For Sale section, always sold what I advertised.
