I agree with the guys here in saying that dont sell the car just. Get it looked at properly and take it from there 1 step at a time. Document everything that needs to be done, and get them done at your own pace. tackle one thing at a time, be it cosmetics or mechanical. Also, not everyone is here to bash you up on your purchase and make you feel you bought a POS. Some of us are here to offer sound advise if we can.
I do hope you get decide to restore her to its former glory, just remember, patience, time and some capital outlay will get you where you want.
BTW, I drove my first e46 M 2 weeks back thanks to forum member who allowed me the opportunity....I am absolutely in love with every aspect of it so my vote gets that you keep it and sort it out.
