I got a BMW 320i with a M52 motor.

The car overheated and oil and water were mixing.
So machy took off the head, i sent it for pressure testing.
Got the head back, said no cracks but slightly warped.

got the head skimmed, new thicker head gasket, new head bolts, new water pump, new thermo stat.
Start the car up when the machy was done saturday, she sounds beautiful.

check the oil level.....guess wot, oil and water still mixing. The pressure in on the water pipes is extreme.

Now there is no oil in the water, but water mixing in the oil.
Lots of pressure in the water, did this engineer take me for a ride?

Any other common problems to look at?

I had the opposite. I had/ have some oil in my water. Marginally, but still. Mechanics that did the rebuild doesn't want to strip, and as long as she doesn't overheat, I am NOT spending money on opening the engine again.

The next time that car goes POOF, it's straight to the scrapyard. One way ticket.

Water in the oil is a bit more serious.

Unfortunately I don't know what to tell you.

thanks.

I'm gonna take the head to other engineers when i get it back and see if they also give it a clean bill of health.

Could it be that I was given the wrong head gasket? all the holes lined up so I assumed it was fine?

Maybe before head goes off must do a compression test?

My brother in law sorted it for me.

He says the head gasket had a 84mm bore, but the bore on my car is only 80mm.
New head gasket and i'm back to sheer driving pleasure.
