hi guys, wonder if anyone has had this before. Ive heard it can be common on the E46. My car wont start at all. All the electronics, lights and so on work..but doesnt start. It doesnt crank, click or anything. When i turn the key on, everything lights up as normal, no errors show but when i turn full nothing happens. It happened last week for the first time, after about 20min of trying it finally started. i put the fan on and it started. Now a week later, after working fine since the 1st incident it wont start at all again. Tired for a entire day with no luck. Could it be the crank sensor? 325Ci E46 auto. thank you!

I doubt it, if it were the sensor it would still crank, but possibly not fire.

my fault tracing would go to the ignition key barrel first, and thereafter the starter solenoid..checking for power with a multimeter along the way.

I could be wrong ?

I doubt whether it would be the stater solenoid, as you should then at least still hear the starter whirring about. You might want to check the relays, the things that normally go click and now aren't, but is could of course be something more than that. Best bet would be to have the codes read as that should give you the best idea of what might be wrong electronically.

Hi Couper, thanks. Who changed it for you and what did it cost?
