To those who were waiting on me for stock (for the 2nd batch), my apologies but just wasnt worth the effort i was putting in having to deal with supplier/courier etc.

Get your can from Builders... Its a fantastic product as most guys will vouch for!

Just whatever you do, dont use tape to mask an area off and spray...

When you remove the tape the entire sprayed bit tears. :thumbdo:

It can yes i agree with you on that one mike..

But i have found a way of doing this which takes some time and it involves my modelling knife and a very very sharp blade..

but if you gonna have to cut onto your cars paint or something then rather dont cut at all... other than that if the masked surface goes underneath what you want to spray and there's a nice gap you don't have to worry but best is to take the part off if you can..

I had to mask and spray cause i could not remove the strip around the side windows of the car.. had no clue how to remove it without braking or bending it so i had to mask... will put up a pic of what it looks like now... just love the car without chrome.. :) :inlove:

Ok I did loads of research and they all say the same...pull the tape off the second you finish spraying. It works, I have tried it...No knifes near your paint man..

Too scared to rub the wet rubber by pulling it off directly... lol lol..
So a modelling blade did the trick for me... Will post a pic of what it looks like with the chrome gone... just loved seeing no chrome on the car

How on earth does Autostyle sell this for R150 a can if Builders (who isn't cheap) sells it at a 3rd less? :nonono:

I need to redo my steering wheel covers and panel around the stop/start button for the ignition

Autostyle doesn't use lube when they rape you... lol lol...

I reckon builders buy more in bulk than what autostyle does and builders price is the same as from the importer, maybe 2 or 3 rand more if i remember correctly.

Oh and pics after you did it hey

dont doubt the integrity of the product. Just looking for a small break in the design of the steering. It's the 2 sides of the bottom spoke. That's all :)

I sanded the parts to get an even finish on the areas where the old coating remained stuck. Also, in my experience the new coating sticks better if the surface is prepped & cleaned properly.

@PrevanP: the writeup will depend on which car you're working on?

I did the steering wheel cover and the window switches on my wife's X3. The window switches just popped out and disassembled by levering with a small screwdriver, the steering wheel cover is removed by unscrewing from the back of the steering wheel using a T-20 torx bit and gently levering it over the airbag module. I did not remove the airbag module as it was not necessary and I did not know how to anyway. The multifunction switches on the steering wheel cover can be unscrewed with the same T-20 bit once the cover is off the steering wheel.

Thanks buddy. I've got to do the centre console on my E46 and was more interested in the prepping / spraying procedure which you covered a bit in your original post.

I need some so badly. My interior is looking amazing, besides the centre console and ashtray cover, and it is annoying the shit out of me :)
