When you remove the tape the entire sprayed bit tears. :thumbdo:
Ok I did loads of research and they all say the same...pull the tape off the second you finish spraying. It works, I have tried it...No knifes near your paint man..Jakkals323i said:MiniMike19@DefinitiveAuto said:Just whatever you do, dont use tape to mask an area off and spray...

It can yes i agree with you on that one mike..
But i have found a way of doing this which takes some time and it involves my modelling knife and a very very sharp blade..
but if you gonna have to cut onto your cars paint or something then rather dont cut at all... other than that if the masked surface goes underneath what you want to spray and there's a nice gap you don't have to worry but best is to take the part off if you can..
I had to mask and spray cause i could not remove the strip around the side windows of the car.. had no clue how to remove it without braking or bending it so i had to mask... will put up a pic of what it looks like now... just love the car without chrome..:inlove:

Contemplating wrapping the steering in CF cos it isnt the entire wheel that it messed.

@PrevanP: the writeup will depend on which car you're working on?
I did the steering wheel cover and the window switches on my wife's X3. The window switches just popped out and disassembled by levering with a small screwdriver, the steering wheel cover is removed by unscrewing from the back of the steering wheel using a T-20 torx bit and gently levering it over the airbag module. I did not remove the airbag module as it was not necessary and I did not know how to anyway. The multifunction switches on the steering wheel cover can be unscrewed with the same T-20 bit once the cover is off the steering wheel.
