petrol in my diesel

**Bump**

Hey guys it's been a while since I have posted... nevertheless

I went to fill my car (e90 320d) up yesterday and I asked for R200 diesel, I proceeded to check the balance on my card to see if I have to transfer money. (Like I always do).

The petrol attendant put 16 liters of ULP95, without even seeing that both the fuel cap is green and says Diesel, I paid and drove off. After a few km I was almost home, when I felt there was something not lekker with my car.

I would say I drove about 6-7km.... is this the death of my engine?

Good morning
please start a new thread and explain why you paid the attendant and still drove off even after knowing the error??

I think all your questions are answered in this thread already. Best to get it towed to your mech and drain the fuel from the tank and fill up diesel and check what happens.

Thanks guys....

Sorry I never started a new thread for reasons that I thought it would not be necessary. I spoke to the petrol owner, he is very nice and said he will cover the costs. The car is currently at BMW and tomorrow I shall find out the damage caused:/

Remember to make sure that you ask for a slip and keep an eye on what gets thrown into your car......

Prevention could save you a whole lot of money and inconvenience!:blueCry:

Glad they are covering the costs as it can turn into an extremely expensive exercise.
keep us updated on what damage was caused and what parts need to be replaced.
Hope you get her back soon.

At some, if not all stations, they can enter whatever fuel they want on the card machine, since it's not directly linked to the fueling system.

Had a situation where I paid for my fuel, but noted the slip said petrol instead of diesel. Had them check the cameras before I started the car and saw that they had put in diesel, but picked the wrong option on the card machine.

Bottom line is to always check which pump they're using.
