Peertjies and his M3

Riaan, more commonly known as Peertjies, brought his M3 for Vanos seals and valve clearances. He also required a general look around to assess the mechanical condition on his newly acquired car.

By now you have all seen the stripping procedure, so straight to the valve train. Valve clearances were checked and were found to be within tolerance for now.

The Vanos valve body was seeping oil.

Excellent work

By the time I bring my M3 in to do this, you should be able to do it blindfolded.

When one is performing such delicate work with a hammer and chisel it is not prudent to be doing it blindfolded.

Hi guys. First I would like to thank Peter and Alexander for the exellent work they have done on my baby. Its the first time i've felt satisfied with someone else working on my car. So here are the facts guys. The car is not faster after the vanos refurb but i can defintely feel a torque increase. I used to have a little hiccup on my lower refs as soon as I change over which now seems to be gone. It also feels smoother through the ref range up until gear change. My car had less than 140k on the clock and the vanos seals felt like plastic bits instead of rubber. Thanks to the Axis team it's also not expensive to do. So get into contact with them as soon as you start doubting your vanos system. I would highly recommend using these guys for any of your BMW needs as they definitely seem to know what they are doing. They will also give you the facts straight which i appreciate and pick up on any other underlying faults your car might have.
Great work team Axis!

Using the Beisan parts once in the cars life (apparently as we do not know this to be fact on a first hand experience basis)

The filter is not available on its own so it gets cleaned.

You can get the filter alone, I just got one the other day. Maybe your dealer is full of shit.
