but that means that the passenger air bag will not deploy if you are in an accident?

The circuit provided tricks the ECU to think the seat is always occupied, therefore the airbag will always deploy regardless if there is someone there or not...

If the ecu always thinks there's someone in the seat, won't it leave the seatbelt warning light on as the seatbelt isn't clipped in on the passenger side? :dunno:

In my car i dont have any seatbelt warnings so im not sure.

Im not quiet sure, you can try checking under the seat if there is a black box or if it does have this type of sensor. Not sure if E36s came with this...

Oh btw, I checked this afternoon and the seatbelt warning comes on for about five seconds and then goes off even without the seatbelt clipped in.

Yeah, my BMW is like that too. It's just a timed light. I am still looking for a retrofit as I really appreciate such a safety feature in a car.

On my car the buzzer goes off for like 2 mins. And it's not something thats just easy to ignore. :banghead: The seatbelt warning light stays on though...

I had a problem with my E60 (2006) after i fitted the tow bar i removed from Stiaan's E60 (2008). Some how i got something wrong as the airbag light and warning on the idrive came on and would not go out. Tried to reset the airbag light but to no avail. Googled it and some guy posted something about the bst (battery safety terminal) i think which he disconnected and bypassed with a 2ohm resistor. I did the same and after resetting the airbag warning with my scan tool the light stays off. Apparently the battery cable (a thick cable apart from the main one) is supposed to be "blown" apart by a small charge located in the battery terminal coupling which disconnects certain circuits.
Am trying to see the solution to the seat airbag fooler but cannot see the pictures

IIRC all you need is a resistor and transistor. I had the required resistor and got the transistor from an energy saving bulb (was after hours and I wanted it done). Will post the diagram when I have a chance.

i've also come across this. even saw a video on how he does it.

but im not 100% sure if actually launches the air-bags if in an accident.
- he didn't mention this at all.

at-least this sensor will lauch all the air bags, rather have safety first.

on my e90 323i (2006) I first had the seatbelt problem then the air bag light came on, i reset it twice already but its just not staying off! :hammerhead::smashScreen::YesNo:

With the e90, i realised that the circuit has 3 wires coming out of the sensor and wasnt prepared to spend R4000 plus BMW was asking to replace it. So i sold the car without fixing the problem and the new owner didnt have a problem with it because he said he knew someone who could fix it. However after selling the e90 i got an e46 and it had the same problem. but after checking out a few youtube videos i made one by myself. it practically costed me less than R2 for the diode and resistos. 5min later i installed it and the light was gone, no need for diagnostics machine to clear the light, though i head that with some cars you may have to clear the light. I have a couple of the diodes and resistors and e46 video at home. If you or anyone want them just let me know

I had a resistor and salvaged a diode from a broken energy saving bulb. Can't remember if I had to clear the code or if it cleared by itself.
