Hi Guys, I need help, I have a package that imile says is blocked in Customs. I provided all the documentation which was requested but now they come back with a hefty penalty and no explanation as to why I'm being charged penalty. I don't trust imile and want to contact Customs directly to try and clear the parcel myself. Any advice on how to clear parcels from customs? Can one contact Customs directly without going through SARS?

You can contact customs directly. They are a part of SARS. You can visit or call the airport branch if you are sure it is there. They will spell out exactly why you have a penalty and even give you an itemised invoice for it. You can contest it with the agent as well.
Chances are they are levying a penalty because there is an issue with the declaration: either the type of goods or the country of origin is mismatched. It can also happen if they have inspected the package and the supplier included an invoice that is not aligned with the numbers in your declaration. I have had an issue where they mis-charged duty because they inspected and decided it was a different category to what the item actually was. This was YEARS ago though.
Imile delivered a few temu and Aliexpress packages. With Temu it is seamless, but with Aliexpress, it felt like they are borderline scammers when dealing with them (especially considering it was not a cheap item).
I would recommend using DHL, Aramex or UPS in future if you can. Much easier to deal with. Anything over R10K I tend to use DHL.

You Still lucky. you know your parcel is blocked at customs.
Most likely what was declared on the Sticker is not what they found inside.
I had this when i bought 40 MK2 Gti Capsule Keys and they decided to open and saw this is "not for personal use" but resale. LOL.
So they penalised me
i have a parcel from Imile that noone knows where it is. LMAO.
Last tracking update shows 3rd April 2026.
Intransit from JHB to WC01 (CPT). seems courier decided to Walk from JHB to CPT since Diesel so K@k duur.
I guess he still walking. LOL
Imile is the WORST courier service. Run by Bots. automated, Standard responses and their Kempton Park office just rings. No answer.
I gave up already on it but i really wanted it.
It was 4 x Mewant E46 M Steering wheel Covers with tri-Colour stitching.

Should have given options.Eish! the number I got from the net goes through to SARS with automated answering service that doesn't give any option related to Customs to select. 0800 00 7277 , this is frustrating.
Option 4 is what takes you to queries.
I know yes. Especially if the item you waiting on Was costly.
Other way is for the Courier Company to be contacted but swak, K@K Imile is the courier and you will never get hold of them. Believe me, i tried
