Oil vacuum pump only lasts 1.5 years????

We have a 120i E87 and it started leaking oil about 2 years ago, so we took it to Forsdicks and they said it is the Oil vacuum pump, it cost R3500 to replace it. About 1 and a half years later it started leaking oil again and Forsdicks assured us that its normal and nothing is wrong and they just kept adding oil.. but now it has to go through road worthy and it needs to be fixed. Forsdicks said its the Oil vacuum pump again and it costs R6000 to replace it this time...

Does this sound right to anyone? And how can it be that the thing only lasts for a year and a half????

If BMW replaced the part they are pupose to carry a 2 year garantee on the parts and labour :thinking:

Thats what i also thought... the car has 210 000km on already, maybe it was just not built for so many km's...

That's a lot of Km.... On those engines they normaly leak oil from the tapet cover gasket end that vacuum pump, with high mileage you can add the sump gasget and power steering pump
