Oil service on 2009 Merc c200k w204

Any one have one and done the oil service? Im looking for a step by step and also want to know what oil merc uses? Looks like most recomend mobil 1 0w40

First thing to get is an oil pump/Oil Extractor 12V DC, from Adendorff machinery mart. you will need that to pump the old oil out through the dipstick hole/pipe.

Get the oil from the agents. There are only two different ones from them. Diesel and petrol. Its cheap cheap. I'm not too sure on 204 but on 203 the whole sump cover needs to come off which is a pain. The oil filter housing might have the nut type of special tool type cover. Nut type then you will need a bug socket. Special tool type you can open with oil filter tool. Normal sump nut underneath. Then youtube how to reset service light. OIl filter can be purchased from gold wagon but I don't like those. I get from agents. Its not that much expensive. They don't come with sump washer so careful not to lose it. You can reuse the sump washer up to about 5 times until they eventually start leaking.

why will you want to go through all that trouble of removing the whole sump cover when you can just pump the oil out?

Because draining the oil the old fashioned way gets more of it out

It does drain through the sump plug. Dealerships use the pump method to save time from removing the sump guard and replacing the sump nut washer. As fanatics we prefer to get every last drop out even if it takes all day. Workshops need to shift out the cars.

ok did it all today and it was a mission removing all the covers so I can understand what they pump it out. Cant believe how cheap they are with oil and parts!!! R600 for everything including new plug and washer.

Very nice toy, only R295. I want one. Those last few drops can stay in the sump.

BTW, I was once told that modern Mercs doesn't have sump plugs. Good to know that they are there if you know how/where to look.

Sump washer is easy. Go to Autozone/Midas/whatever. They stock them and you just need to know the size. Take the old one with you. Or measure it. Or ask them, they might know. Even if they are not sure, you can get one of each in several sizes. They are cheap enough for that. It will cost you more in petrol to take the wrong ones back than what they cost you.
